Nico @ 2 months & 3 days old

Date: 12th February 2012

Today we brought Nico for his 2nd month's jab [Triple Antigen/Polio/Hib] and to do his Rotavirus vaccine as well.

Nico did his urine and blood test on last Wednesday at Pantai Hospital. We wanted to get a 2nd opinion, so we brought Nico back in KL to see the Paed which attended to him during his birth time. So this round, we collected his urine and blood test report which he did earlier last week from the doctor. As his Paediatrician's clinic is not opened on a Sunday at Pantai Hospital, so we go to his clinic at Sri Petaling. It was so crowded! Aiyo, next time I think I won't visit the Paed on a Sunday!

Thank God that finally, everything turns out fine! Just that need to keep on monitor Nico. The doctor explained to us on the test results and also let us know what need to do for Nico. If he suddenly has very high fever, we must inform the doctor immediately.

Hopefully when he is back to Taiping, the Paediatrician at Taiping won't ask Nico to eat antibiotics again. He is still so small. It really makes me feel heart pain whenever I feed him with antibiotics. Sigh!

13th Feb: This is my achievement of 2 months and 4 days' old :)

Nico is 6.5 kgs @ 2 months and 3 days' old ~

Nico's paed informs us that Nico's weight is above average at this moment.... Haha ~ Hubby says this is the results from all the 'good' food I have been eating all these while!

Nico's head has the dry scalp since he was 6 weeks' old. Although it is not as serious as during Kimi's time, Hubby wants Nico to get some proper treatments instead of letting it recover by itself. During Kimi's time, confinement lady treated it by applied some medicated oil. It took so long to recover. So this time, we want Nico to have the right treatment on this

This is how it looks like ~

Paediatrician prescribed this cream for us to apply 3 times daily. He informs us, once the scalp recovers, we need to apply olive oil on the affected areas.

This is Nico's nasal spray. He has been having stuffy nose since my confinement time and it never recovers until now. So doctor gives us this nasal spray to ease Nico's discomfort. It clears mucus from the nose to help with breathing. It is the physiological seawater micro spray so we can spray a few times into Nico's nose in a day. Doctor informs us that this spray won't cause any harm to the baby as it is made from seawater.

Houses Lightings Sdn. Bhd.

Hubby has been sourcing for cheaper Downlights to buy for our new house quite some time already. After a few rounds of looking around and comparing prices, designs and the quality, he finally bought the Downlights at this 'Houses Lightings Sdn. Bhd.'

Today we made a trip all the way to Puchong to buy the lights. It was really crowded in the shop. I think the customers are aware of the shop's reasonable pricing, that's why it is full of people. They have a lot of varieties, designs, etc. From the salespersons to the assistants who assist you to check your goods and carry your goods to the car are all very friendly. Very good service! But one thing is the prices there are NETT. I think perhaps because they have marked the prices to be lower than other shops, so not much bargains can be done!

Yeah... Another mission is done for our house. A very fruitful trip! Perhaps we will come back here again to choose for other types of lights in the near future.

With a baby with us today, not that easy to get more things done in a crowded shop like this :)

Today Hubby and I visited the new Food Street at Old Wing to find out what's new there. I still remembered 2 months+ ago before I went for my maternity leaves, the Food Street was still in renovating phase. And now, it is full of new FOOD stalls and shops! All look Yummy!!

After walked one round, we chose this '小霸王 (Xiao Bar Wang)'. It serves authentic Taiwanese street snacks. As we have Nico we us, so we chose the least crowded shop to eat. It was a good choice although the shop was not as crowded as compare to the rest of other food stalls there. The food look delicious and taste more like home-cooked food to me. I personally like the Mee Suah which I ordered. Will definitely come back and try other varieties again!

Kid's E World, The Gardens

I always wanted to bring Kimi to this Kid's E World since they started their operations last year. But at that time I was pregnant, so to bring Kimi there will be a difficult task for me to play with him inside the playground. Moreover if he plays alone, I doubt it will be fun. Going to playground to have fun, the more, the merrier!

Finally, Kimi's cousins are visiting us in KL last Sunday, so my sister and I decided to bring the kids to have their fun time there together.

The admission fee is RM50 per day (Weekend & Holidays - 10am to 10pm). We reached at around 9pm so we only managed to spend one hour there. It was a bit waste on the admission fee that we had paid. Not worth! Hehe.... Next time must spend a longer time there to make full use of all the toys and facilities!!

Note: Everyone who goes in MUST wear socks. Please do remember to bring your own socks. Otherwise, they are charging RM5 per pair of socks.

Nico @ Day 40 & Day 60

Nico boy is growing up healthily for the past 2 months despite having his urine infection. Mummy and Nico need to go in and out hospital often to do his urine test to monitor the infection to make sure that it does not get worse. Hope he can recover soon from the infection so that Mummy no need to worry so much for him.

Nico's Growing Up:

@ Day 40: He is weighing at 5.4kg.

@ Day 60: He is weighing at 6.4kg.

Nico can respond to our voices when he was @ Week 4. He can smile back to us and once a while smile with some sounds. He likes to play a lot. When we talk to him, he will turn around his head to locate our voices. A chatty boy :)

Shoot for Fun @ CNY 2012

This year Chinese New Year, we did not plan to back Pontian on Day 2 (初二) of CNY because we have a newborn baby with us. To travel from Taiping back to Johor, at least needs 7 hours' drive (if without any traffic jam). It will be a bit tiring for me to sit too long in the car and a long journey for both my boys. This year, we have a longer week for CNY in Taiping so I took some photos for fun with my 3 Boyfriends!

This Dragon year is another special year for us, as we are looking forward to move into our own Home-Sweet-Home soon! We have been waiting for this day to arrive for a few years already and finally, it is coming very soon in this year. What a GREAT year for us!

Nico's Full Moon Celebrations

Date: 7th January 2012

Today we celebrated Nico's Full Moon!

It was a happy day for all of us. House was full with relatives. Nico had his hair cutting ceremony, bathing ceremony and also prayers at home in the morning. It was then followed by a simple luncheon at home, food cooked by the confinement auntie. After that, Hubby and I together with MIL went to a nearby temple to pray. We thanked God for my smooth delivery! It was already late afternoon when everything settled down.

Before we proceed to the restaurant for the dinner, we brought Nico to a nearby shopping complex for a walk. This is one of the tradition things needs to do during the full moon ceremony day.

This round, we decided to have dinner with relatives at a local restaurant to celebrate Nico's Full Moon. This dinner was also a get-together with relatives and Grandma (who is Nico's Great-Grandma). Ah Ma was the happiest person on that night. To see her in such a happy mood, we felt glad too. We really with to cherish our days with Ah Ma. We want to see her happy and healthy always!

We ordered 'Buddha Jumps Over The Wall' for Grandma to eat. This was my first time eating this dish, not bad though ~ Most important, is Ah Ma likes it!

This set of shirts was a gift from Nico's maternal grandparents.

He needs to wear it on his Full Moon day.

After one whole day of celebrating, this is Nico in his tired mood.
He fell asleep before I managed to change him in his pyjamas :)

Welcoming our 2nd Little Boy!

8th December 2011:

When I woke up in the morning, felt slightly stomach pain. I informed my Hubby who was getting ready to go to work. He told me to go and see my Gynae better. So I went alone to the clinic in the morning since he was busy on that day... Anyway, today is also my weekly check-up, just that appointment is made in the afternoon.

Wow, to my surprise, after the scanning and measurements, my Gynae informed me that my cervix had dilated 3 cm!! And she also informed me that the water level has gone down quite a lot compare to last week check-up. After some discussions, Gynae told me I can either admit to hospital by this evening or tomorrow morning for delivery.

Well, baby has signs of coming out soon. I was half happy and half anxious. The day I have been waiting for so long has finally arrived soon. Gynae told me the things that she will be doing for me once I get admitted, she explained the procedures to me and I also informed her on my birth plans as well.

I chose to admit on Friday morning, so that I have enough time to clear some office work and also go for my office Christmas party. Haha!!

I informed Hubby, my Mummy and MIL on my conditions and told them that I will be admitted on Friday morning. Hubby told me he will late for home tonight to clear his work before go on leaves with me.

Then, I went to buy some Chinese Herbs myself and packed some things before I returned back to office after the check-up. And of course, not to miss out eating the food I want to eat!!

9th December 2011:

Hubby sent me to thehospital in the morning. Our schedule admitted time was by 8am, but we were a bit late. When we reached, my Gynae also reached few minutes after us. Good timing!!

I was told to change and then was informed by the nurses and Gynae what they are going to do on me and etc. Hubby was with me throughout the whole process. I had very minor contractions in the morning and was dilated 4 cm when I reached the hospital. After 2 hours of waiting, it was 5.5 cm. Aiyo, contractions started slowly and I could feel the pain coming!

And then dilated 6 cm during noon time when Gynae came for 2nd visit. At that time, the pain was really a bit unbearable but I insisted no epidural. Luckily Hubby was by my side. Holding on his hands throughout the whole process for me seemed to be better than taking epidural. He kept on telling me, it will be over soon, just need to bear for a while more... But it was really super pain especially on my back!! So I told him, I wanted an epidural this time. He quickly asked for the nurse assistance when he saw me in such a pain, but then after the nurse checked on me, she said was too late already. Baby is coming out soon!! I dilated 9 cm already. She quickly informed my Gynae, and she arrived around 15 minutes later as she actually was already on her way back to her clinic.

During the waiting time, really wanted to thank the midwife and nurse!! She helped me massaged my back and buttocks to make me feel much relief from the pain. Words of encouragement kept on coming out from them. I think without the massage and Hubby's pairs of hands, I think I really cannot make it. The pain is really cannot be described. Hubby even jokingly told me, "Luckily this is 2nd time he come across such a situation, otherwise he also follow me panicks while seeing me in this type of pain."

Doctor arrived and the delivery process started. During the pushes, I kept on repeatedly shouting to Hubby and Gynae, "No, I cannot do it la... Very pain!" All of them in the Labour Ward kept on tell me, "CAN, CAN, You are almost there!! Can see Baby's head already!!"

Finally, I managed to deliver a healthy baby after 3 pushes!! Gynae jokingly telling me after the delivery, "Aiyo, Shin Yee, I thought you are very steady, who knows, you almost give up towards the end. Otherwise, I wouldn't have to stitch you." Hehe... even my Gynae also make fun of me... So 'paiseh'!!

I thank God and everyone in the room who assisted me throughout the whole process!!

Packing Hospital Bag

As my delivery date is getting nearer, I think it is time for me to pack my hospital bag. Since Week 35, my Gyane has informed me that I can deliver anytime from then. She asked me to get ready my things and wrote me an Admission Letter for hospital usage. She gave me her contact number so I can reach her at anytime. So I started to wash some my clothes bit by bit and then packed them into my hospital bag.

Well, let's see what I had prepared in my bag! Hope they are enough during my stay in the hospital...

I still remembered during Kimi's time, I packed my hospital bag in a rush during midnight when I discovered I was about to deliver. Before rushing to the hospital, I quickly stuffed whatever I could think of into my hospital bag. So hopefully this time, I have enough time to prepare my bag so that I won’t repeat the same experience during the first delivery 2 years ago. Hope I won't leave out anything this time :)

Split Love?

My parents-in-law brought Kimi to KL on Tuesday. They had some things to do so they left Kimi with us. Spent a couple of days with Kimi in KL and so happened that I was also on MC. We brought Kimi together with us during the sudden visit to Gynae as I was not feeling well on Tuesday morning. Kimi saw his little brother from the scanning machine, clapped his hands and told us, 'Baby, Baby'... He looks so excited at that time. At that moment, I feel that, I am a blessed mother of two very soon!

Since I was on MC, so I had the chance of taking afternoon nap with Kimi at home and also spent more time bonding with him. I spent my time on teaching him to recognize some alphabets, building up toys bricks with him, watching his favourite cartoons together. I told myself, I must make full use of this 2 days. After this 2 days, I am not sure if I can have the same quality time with Kimi or not in the near future with the arrival of our Baby No. 2.

After sending him off this morning, a sudden sadness made me feel very uneasy. I am not too sure if I am going to see Kimi again in KL before I go for my delivery. The next time I see him either in KL or Taiping, I might be carrying another baby on my arms. Really very mixed feelings!

I suddenly have a feeling of I seem to be treating Kimi unfairly by having a 2nd baby at this time. I am not too sure if I am able to shower Kimi with 100% of my love as what I have been doing for the past 26 months with the arrival of our 2nd Baby soon. At this age of 2 years old, I am sure Kimi needs us a lot in guiding him to do the right thing. I am sure he needs us to be there when he wants to learn a new word. I am sure he needs us to be there to answer him when he is asking, 'Why this? Why that?'..... But with all these uncertainties, I am not too sure if I can cope well for both of them at the same time or not.

Perhaps I am a bit nervous when I think of I might be delivering anytime from now. Or perhaps I am too worry on how Kimi will react after the arrival of his new sibling. I seriously cannot describe the feelings I have in me right now... I know it is unfair to the Baby as well when I have these thoughts on my mind, but I just can’t stop thinking of it. Will I be splitting my loves between both of them? *Sigh*

Baby, please bear with Mummy for a while. I think as of now, all I need is the transition period. Once the transition period is over, Mummy will be fine soon! Mummy promises to you, I will definitely shower you with tonnes of love equally as how I love your elder brother!! Muacks ~~

Furniture for the Kids Room

After a few times of scouting around at the Furniture Fairs and shops before this, and today, after one whole day of shopping around for a few places to look for the kids' furniture, Hubby and I finally decided on Kimi's room bed and wardrobe. As the room is not very big as I can imagine, so we have very limited space on the room. We need to make full use of the space and cannot add too much furniture in it.

We compare the designs, we compare the pricing and we compare the sizes that can fit into the room. This is what we have chosen after one whole day of surveying around. Both of us find this design suits us the most for now.

We did not get the whole set of this as the room couldn't fit in all. We only bought 2 single beds and one wardrobe to fit into the room. One bed for Kimi and one bed for our future baby. We are still undecided on whether to get the study table or not, will see how later when we move into the house. Hopefully the room will look nice as what is shown in the picture.

There are a lot of designs displayed in the shop. More designs are viewable at: http://www.toytree.com.my. They have a lot cute and nice furniture designs for baby / kids rooms. The shop also sells wall decorations and educational toys too. Besides getting the kids furniture, we bought some toys for Kimi too after saw the discounts! A very worth buy!

One more thing done for our future 'home-sweet-home'! Very happy ~

@ Week 35

Today, Hubby accompanied me to my bi-monthly check-up. I am currently at Week 35. Time flies very fast! It has been 35 weeks since I got pregnant. If this baby decides to meet us at the same time as his elder brother, it means that I have 2 more weeks from now to welcome his arrival. Isn't it fast?

During the previous check-up at Week 33, our baby still refused to turn his head down making us a bit worry on what if he still did not turn at Week 35. Gynae asked me to continue with the exercise at home. I have been worrying for 2 weeks. Keep on thinking, 'What if baby still does not turn his head down at Week 35?' 'What if this and what if that?' Hubby keeps reassure me that everything will be fine, asks me not to worry so much. But I just can't stop worrying.

So before today's check-up, every night when I was lying on the bed, I always reminded our baby, 'Mummy is doing the exercise now. Please be good ya... Don't forget to turn your head down.' Hope that baby hears what I am saying :)

Today's check-up was very smooth. Everything is under control. And our baby finally has decided to turn his head down. When Gynae touched my tummy, she smiled to me and informed me, seemed like the baby's head had turned down. And then she scanned and confirmed it again. Phew.... When Hubby and I heard this, we were actually quite relieved and at least I no need to worry so much now. Gynae told us that I can deliver anytime from now... Baby is at his good weight. He is currently now weighing 2.9kgs. Everything is just fine. At least, at this moment, c-sec is not in the options list. Thank God! I always hope for a normal delivery and I wish it really will be!

My next check-up will be at Week 37.... Two more weeks from now. Gynae told me that during the next check-up, she will check on my cervix to see is it ready for delivery. If everything goes smoothly, no high blood pressure, etc... I can get ready for my delivery anytime after Week 37! She asked me to save her contact number and passed me the hospital admission form just in case I suddenly need them before the next check-up.

Wow, I am getting near to the arrival day of our 2nd Little One ~ Anxious and excited MOOD are now ON! I must really make good use of this few weeks to do the things I want to do before the arrival of this 2nd baby. Life will definitely be so much busier with 2 kids around!

~ Baby's First Present which I received today from my cousin ~

This 2nd pregnancy is a little bit different compare to Kimi's time. I do not have much swollen on face, legs or body. This makes me easier to walk. Although sleepy at some times, it is still manageable and not so tiring unless I busy doing housework or cooking. After the housework or cooking, I need to rest for some time before I gain back my energy. Otherwise, the back will feel real tired and pain.

I am always a fat lady... Hehe... So my legs even though not pregnant, also look a bit 'meat-meat'. But if compare during my 1st pregnancy, this pair of legs was so much better now. At least it looks normal to me for a pregnant lady.

I do not know if I have calculated wrongly, this pregnancy, as of now, I only gained around 8kgs of weight. During Kimi's time, I total gained 15kgs!!

Anyway, despite all these changes in my body and some unforeseen circumstances before this, I really enjoy my pregnancy's journey. I love the way baby moves in my tummy, I love the way he reacts to me when I touch my tummy, and most of all, I love the 'beautiful' me when I have the baby IN me!!

From today onwards, I must really treasure the remaining days which I have for this 2nd pregnancy's journey ~ In a few more weeks’ time, I am going to lead a normal life soon….

Pregnancy Portraits by The Picture Company

Last weekend, when I was at The Picture Company, One Utama, taking some Family Portraits with Kimi and Hubby, I got an invitation from one of the photographers there to invite me to be part of their training. The senior photographers there will have a training session on Glam Photography Training and they need a pregnant lady to be their training model. Well, I think this is a chance that hard to come by, so I agree to them without really think twice on what should I do during the training session.

Haha... So, I headed to Pavillion KL, where they were going to have their trainings there. A few senior photographers were there, together with their Boss and the trainer. At first, I feel a bit awkward to be in the room with so many people. Luckily one of the photographers, Ms. Inga, whom I have known her for a couple of years was there in the group as well, which made me feel much at ease. She was the one in The Picture Company, who took Kimi's Growing Up's portraits since Kimi was 12 weeks' old. Time flies!!

So, I was there standing, sitting and posing for their trainings. It was a great experience for me with a bunch of very friendly photographers. The trainer was very helpful too.

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone of them! Without such a chance, I think I won't be able to have such wonderful pregnancy portraits... Thanks for the sweet memories all of you have created for my 2nd Little One which Hubby and I are expecting him to arrive in this coming December!

Dear... I am so glad that I have hold on to you, to make me understand what is called LOVE... Glad that I have walked together with you, to make me realize what is called HAPPINESS... Thanks for everything! I know you have been working hard for an 'easy-maintenance' wife like me and a Family of FOUR very soon ~ Hehe :)

Happy 4th Anniversary to BOTH of us!!

This year the date is more unique ~ 11.11.11 ~ A very wonderful date with all the wonderful things taking place. Our 4th Year Anniversary falls on today and we received our BEST Present on today too! A DOUBLE celebrations! We collected the KEYS to our ‘Home-Sweet-Home’ :) Finally, we have a home for ourselves ~ Thanks Dear, for this lovely present!! Thanks for building up our ‘Love Nest’ together with me :)

As promised, Hubby spent a bit of his busy schedule to have this anniversary dinner with me. As he needs to go to work later at night, so we went to a nearby place for dinner. After discussing and scouting around, we chose this Restaurant named 'Tapis Rouge' located at The Strand, Kota Damansara.

Nice ambiance with delicious food... When we reached, we were the only table in the restaurant. I jokingly told Hubby, "It looked like you had booked the whole place for just the 2 of us!" Haha ~ Perhaps it is still new, so not many people visit the place yet.

Hubby wants to eat steak and I want to eat spaghetti. After browsed through the menu, we have decided to sit down as they served both the food we wanted to eat.

Overall, the foods are very delicious and service is very good too! Hubby said he was very satisfied and the foods were all nicely cooked. You have been working hard, so you deserve a good meal! After all, to me, what matters the most is the time you can spend with me. To me, food is still secondary… Thanks for everything, Hubby!

@ Week 31

Date: 21st October 2011

I had been feeling dizzy every morning when I woke up for the past weeks. So we decided to drop by Gynae to have a check-up since my bi-monthly check-up date was also approaching.

Check-up @ Week 31:
Everything is fine... My amniotic fluid level is considered OK. Baby is weighing at 1.8kgs at Week 31. Gynae informs us that baby is on his good weight. The only thing now is that baby is still in his breech position. So Gynae asked me to do some exercise every night before sleep. She advises me to be on 'knee-chest position' for a few minutes before I go to sleep. She explained to me on how to do it correctly. After I got back home, I googled and found some information on this position.

Hope that baby can turn his body soon when we go for the next check-up.

On the other note, during my last trip back to Taiping, Hubby's grandma bought me some ingredients to cook a drink at home myself. I do not know how to name the leaves, so I took the pictures of the ingredients needed to boil for this drink to share in my blog. Grandma told me this leaves are very common and can be found at any wet market.

Grandma says I can take this drink weekly as 'cooling tea' function during the end of my pregnancy period. She says according to the 'old wives tales', this drink can prevent baby from getting jaundice. I did not try this during Kimi's time, so this round no harm trying it out. So far I have boiled the drink once and the taste a bit weird. Luckily the 'gula melaka' taste is quite nice which covers up the leaves smell.

I will try to boil it another time during this coming weekend :)

Shoppings for Baby

After my monthly check-up on 8th October, the next day we decided to go and shop for our baby. As our 2nd baby is a baby boy (according to the scanned results), so a lot of things do not really need to buy as we can take it from Kimi's belongings. There are some things which can be passed down from Kimi.

Milk bottles cannot be shared so we bought the Newborn Set for Baby... It took me some time to find this newborn set. I had been to a couple of Baby Fairs and a few shops selling baby stuffs but it was either sold out or no stock. I finally found this set at Mothercare, Mid Valley branch. So I quickly grabbed it. There were a few colours to choose from. I chose Blue for Baby. Hope he will like it.

Besides that, Daddy also bought a couple of mittens and booties for Baby. The 2 pairs of shirts and pants I bought earlier at supermarket. Most of the shirts for Baby will take from Kimi’s smaller size shirts and washed them for reuse purposes.

During my previous holidays, I bought a few small things for the future Baby. Although at that time, we still had no news on my 2nd pregnancy yet, I told myself, "Never mind, can buy first, perhaps not long after that I am able to use them..." Hehe... This is actually giving myself some excuses to shop! But it is ok, I finally get to use them soon :)

Baby, Mummy is going to wash them and let you wear them soon once you arrive to this wonderful world!

Kimi Loves Puzzles

At the recent Book Fest at KLCC, we bought this Vehicles Puzzle for Kimi. After Daddy taught him for a couple of times, there was one night he sat down on his bed, took out the puzzle, and tried to do it by himself :) And to my surprise, my little boy did it all by himself!

After posted up this photo in my Facebook, an old friend of mine saw it and bought one set of Animals Puzzles for Kimi as present. So sweet of her to post it to me all the way from Penang!

So on last weekend, we went back to Taiping to visit Kimi. We brought back this set of puzzles for him to learn and play. We taught Kimi how to differentiate the animals and placed the correct pieces on the correct animals boards. There are a total of 8 animals puzzles. After a day of training, Kimi can do it by himself! I was so amazed by this... He knows which piece of puzzle to fit into which animal. I am really surprised. Although a few of the puzzles still need my help to guide him, he can fix most of the animals by himself! While playing with them, he learns how to pronounce the animals' names. He knows how to say a few of them such as Goose, Duck, Cow and Horse... The rest of them he is still learning how to pronounce them correctly.

I really love to see Kimi in this serious look when he is playing with his favourite activity. Kimi looks so adorable in these pictures :)

Now I know besides watching his favourite cartoons, he LOVES puzzles too!

Nutritious Weeks

After the last pregnancy check-up at my Week 28, Hubby decided to temporary send Kimi back to Taiping under the care of my PIL so that I can fully concentrate on taking care of myself. Besides to rest more, most of all, is to eat more!

My Gynae advices me to drink more water in order to increase the level of amniotic fluid in my body. Baby is on his ideal weight at Week 28. Just that in case of emergency and I need to deliver early, my Gynae hopes that the baby's weight is good enough so that he does not need to go through any extra treatments. Thanks for her advice on this!

Besides letting myself to rest more, I tried to cook some nutritious food at home for myself to eat. Hubby drove me around to find some nutritious dessert as well. Haha, I think this is more on letting me to have the privileges and excuses to eat whatever I want.... Besides that, I asked around from some friends to share their experience with me on how can I let the baby to gain more weight in a shorter time and how to increase more amniotic fluid in my body. Thanks for all the advices and tips! I really appreciate them ~

Cooking at home is not seldom thing for me to do, just that the menus I chose to cook for myself for now are some lighter and less oily food . Thanks to the unlimited Fish supply sent by my Parents all the way from Pontian! I have the freshest fish to eat all these while ~

Coconut Water - Some friends told me by drinking more coconut water can indirectly helps me to increase more amniotic fluid. I do not know how accurate is this, but no harm trying it!

RM3.00 for one coconut... Is it expensive?
I bought it at a stall near Kampung Chempaka. I remembered during Kimi's time, it only cost RM2.50 for one if not mistaken.

'Kampung Chicken' Soup with Red Dates ~
I boiled it in a slow cooker for 2 hours. A very sweet and delicious soup although you drink it plain in this way.... I like it a lot!

My friend told me this soup can help the baby to gain more weight, so I decided to try it. I do not know how effective is this chicken soup in helping the baby to gain to weight. But I drink it every alternate days for a week. No matter what method I use or eat, ultimate aim is to let baby and myself grow healthier!

Really hope that my next check-up, both baby and I can be in a good condition :)

Our Short 3D2N Pontian + Singapore Trip

We spent the weekend in Pontian and Singapore. A rush and tiring trip as Kimi was having slightly fever the day before we travelled back to Johor. It was not easy to bring a sick toddler together with us but this trip couldn't be cancelled or postponed as I need to attend my God-Mother only son's wedding dinner...

Anyway, although tiring, we enjoyed the trip a lot as Kimi looked fine on Monday so we brought him to have a short trip in Sentosa.

As it was the F1 weekend, we couldn't get to book hotel rooms which was near to the wedding dinner venue. So we booked further a bit. Thanks to the GPS, we travelled in Singapore without much problems!

Sharings on Kimi's Montessori's Journey

At his age of 22 months, I sent Kimi to Montessori in hoping that he could learn to be more independent and of course be close to us in KL. As travelling back to Taiping every two weeks to visit him, sometimes can be real tiring. So we have decided to bring him back to KL so that we can have more bonding time with him.

Perhaps I am not a good mum, perhaps I did not think from his shoes, perhaps I neglected his feelings as a 1 year+ old toddler. Kimi is a jovial and happy boy. He can mix around easily, so Hubby and I do share the same thoughts that Kimi should be able to adapt into his Montessori life very soon. But never did I expect that Kimi could not get use to his new lifestyle so soon. He cried everyday when I dropped him off. It was really pitiful to see him cried in this way. However, I told myself: Is ok, everything will be fine soon... I think I am just a cruel mum. Seeing him cry so pitifully, I still insisted of sending him there, in hoping he can really get used to it soon.

He throws tantrums, he refuses to change his clothes, he does not want to go out from the house! A lot of problems and challenges he gave me every morning before we step out from the house. Occasionally, husband and wife might end up quarrelling because both of us have different points of views in this. But one word of advice, PATIENT! Everything will turn out fine ~

Perhaps it was a new environment for him, or perhaps he was exposed to some new bacteria, or perhaps he was a bit traumatised whenever we dropped him there, or perhaps he wanted to use his ways to show his discomfort in the childcare…. He fell sick on the fourth day night right after his Montessori life. High fever, coughing, flu, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. all came one after another.

For the first 2months he was in the Montessori, applying leaves to take care of him at home and sending him to visit the paediatrician, were my weekly jobs. I think I have lost counts in the numbers of times he went to see doctor. Waking up middle of the night a few times to clean his mess and wash the bed sheets after he vomited, trying to feed him eat medicine by myself during the day time, entertaining him when he was sick, all these almost made me lost all my energy in taking care of him.

As a pregnant Mummy, I finally fell sick together with him. When he coughs, I cough, when he stomach upsets, I also follow him stomach upsets. I had the record of coughing for one month plus and no signs of recovering. In order to make myself recovering faster than him, I ate all the medicine which my Gynae prescribed to me including antibiotics. She told me is safe for me to eat, so I ate them without hesitating so that I could recover faster. I did all I could. And of course, for a sick toddler on medications for so long, definitely his weights will go down. Besides juggling between his medicine and meals, I need to hear some ‘people’ commenting that I did not take good care of my son well and made him look so thin. As a mother, seeing my own son getting thinner day by day, will I be happy over this? Well, this remark indeed made me sad for some time. It even makes me wondering… perhaps I am really not a good Mummy.

Anyway, all these are over now. Kimi is now healthy and happily going to his Montessori in this week. However, this is his final week there. We supposed to send him there for another month, but due to some personal health reasons, I very reluctantly cancelled his October term yesterday. Haih… All my perseverance for the past 3 months seems like a waste now. It is a pity for Kimi. He seems to enjoy his life now with some friends he had made in this Montessori and yet Mummy is taking it away from him. Sorry ya, my dear son! At this moment of time, Mummy needs to take good care of your little brother in me first. Hope that you won’t mind. Mummy promises to you, I will definitely let you go back again once everything has settled down. Hopefully by then, you won’t cry again for sending you there ya…

Luckily the teachers there are all very friendly. They are the ones who give me confidence and encouragements all the time when I have signs of giving up. I really wish to thank them for this. Thank you for helping me to take care of Kimi for the past 3 months. He is a more sensible kid now. I cannot use obedient to describe him as he still throws tantrums at times when he feels not good or things not getting right for him. Well, I believe most toddlers are like this at this age of time…. I will slowly guide him in this. Hope Kimi can be a good boy very soon! Haha :)

To all Kimi’s teachers: For all the hard work and efforts you have put in, I am very thankful to every one of you in the Montessori!

Note to this post:
To all the Mummies out there, be prepared for your son/daughter to fall sick easily during the first couple of months when you send him/her to a Child Care Centre. Don’t too worry too much on this as the doctors also inform us that the child eventually will get immune to it soon. Be strong and believe in your choice. Although it may seem tiring to take care of a sick toddler all the time, I am sure you will grow together with your child in this Montessori or Child Care Centre’s journey. I learnt a lot from this lesson and I am sure you will too. Do speak to your child and let him understand your intentions of sending him there. Try your best to ease his/her separation anxiety. Give your child some time and confidence. Do assure him that you will come and pick him/her up after your work. Your child will understand and adjust themselves one day even though he/she may not able to express it.

When one day, you drop your child there without him/her crying and he/she can wave ‘Bye-Bye’ to you when you about to leave for work, then you will finally understand, all the efforts and time you have put in, ARE NEVER WASTED!! You will melt when you see him/her smiles on the face… Then you will realize, there are all worthwhile!

@ Week 28

Date: 29th September 2011

I had my monthly check-up today. This time, Hubby had the time to go with me. Luckily he was with me, otherwise I seriously do not know how to explain what Gynae had told me today and repeated the same thing to him again.

Blood pressure and urine test were all OK. Just that I had previous record of high blood pressure during my first pregnancy, Gynae always reminded me to monitor my blood pressure at home. So same thing, scanning process to be done. Gynae checked every parts of the baby for us and this round, the baby seems like smiling to us this time compare to the last check-up. Gynae captured a nice photo for us to bring back home. He is weighing at 1.3kgs at Week 28. She told us this is an ideal weight at this stage.

This round check-up, I was told that my amniotic fluid seems lesser than the normal level. Gynae explained a lot to us on this issue. She advised me to drink lots of water. Besides lots of water, is still lots of water. She informed us on the chances of early delivery, as insufficient of amniotic fluid is one of the systoms to show that I might have higher chances to deliver earlier. She needs me to eat more so that baby can gain weight faster (just in case really suddenly need to go for early delivery, the baby’s weight is on the right track). She discussed with us on the baby fees in hospital, etc. And then suggested to us to also go for check-up in a government hospital, just in case baby really delivers earlier than the EDD, I have a reference there and can transfer my delivery or baby in the hospital anytime. She gave us a doctor name in UMMC and told me to make an appointment there. I took a blood test during this round check-up to check on my liver and kidney functions.

The supplements to bring back home during this time check-up ~
This 3 supplements cost me RM95.00. Not too sure is it expensive or not…

I remembered when Kimi’s time, I seemed to be having the same problem. But the Gynae at that time, did not inform me so many information. I thank God that I was equipped with these information, at least Hubby and I know what to do in case emergency really happens.

The sad thing is, when I get to know this, I am caught in the situation where I find myself is not acting fair to both my sons. After this check-up, Hubby has decided to send Kimi back to Taiping under the care of my parents-in-law so that I can have sufficient of rest and enough food intake every single day. With Kimi by my side, I do agree that, I have neglected my daily food intake especially during dinner time.

By sending Kimi back to Taiping, although I assume that I can have enough rest, however, I seem to have taken away Kimi’s happiness by staying close to his Daddy and Mummy and indirectly took away the fun he had from the Montessori too.

By not sending Kimi back to Taiping, I seem to have taken away the chances of giving my 2nd baby a healthy body and to deliver him in his full term.

Why can’t I have the best of both worlds?

As a Mummy, I wish both of them Good! I hope to give the best to them… But by giving the best to both of them, sometimes we are only left with limited choices and decisions need to be made. It is really a pity for sending Kimi back to Taiping now after he has settled down in his Montessori. All the efforts and perseverance that I have put in for the past 3 months seem like a waste for now. However, if I do not choose to do this, I might be taking the risk of having an early delivery for my 2nd Baby. So for the situation now, I can only opt for one.

I pray to God, to always protect us in good health and happiness especially to both my sons. And for now, hope that baby can stay healthily in me until his full term before he comes out to see this wonderful world! Baby, please be obedient ya :)

On Kimi's 2nd Birthday with Love

Today is Kimi's 2 Years Old Birthday ~ Daddy and Mummy brought some mini cupcakes for him to bring to his Montessori and shared with his friends there :) We had a small party for him at his Montesorri. Kimi enjoyed this day very much!

He had his FIRST Movie experience in Cinema. We brought him to watch 'Smurfs'. Luckily he can sit throughout the whole movie without giving us much troubles :) We had a simple birthday dinner for him as well after the movie ~

When the teachers opened up the cake boxes and the kids saw the cakes, they were all very excited and happy especially Kimi. He kept on said, 'Wow, Gru, Gru'! Hubby and I were really happy when we saw all the happy smiling faces on that day.

Besides the main birthday cake, I have prepared some mini cupcakes for Kimi's friends as well :) There are butter cakes with Marshmallow toppings. Yummy!

The kids really enjoyed the mini cupcakes a lot! Luckily I have brought more than enough :) Really glad that Kimi loves the cakes so much ~

From Grandchildren with Love

After some planning, we finally managed to celebrate Ah Ma's birthday at KL. She every year celebrates her Actual Birthday date in Taiping which normally falls on a weekday. So, most of her grandchildren couldn't make it to go back to celebrate with her during the actual day.

This year, after some discussions with Hubby's cousins, we managed to invite Ah Ma to KL for her birthday celebrations. It was meant for a surprise to her and she did not know that in advance. We were very glad that Ah Ma enjoyed the night very much. It was really a great surprise for her when she arrived at the restaurant and saw most of her grandchildren gathered together to celebrate her birthday with her :) Our 2nd Uncle's Family joined us as well ~ It was a GREAT Dinner and Gathering ~

For this second pregnancy, I have quite different experience during my every monthly check-ups. The Gynae will discuss and update us on the pregnancy progress and show to us every parts of the baby during every check-up. During the last 2 check-ups, she even saved the baby pictures and short video clips in a CD instead of printed out the 4D scanned results for us. So nice and considerate of her...I was very excited when I received the CD on the spot after the scanned process. I did not have this during Kimi's time. So once I got back to office after the check-up, I immediately opened up the CD and viewed the pictures again from my laptop :)

My Second Pregnancy Eat and Use:

Starting from early pregnancy, my usual dry skin become even drier makes my tummy and legs very itchy. I tried a few moisturizing creams which I bought from the pharmacies in hoping that can cure the dryness and itchiness but to no avail. I very often need to scratch the skin which ends up make the skin problem worse. After spoke to a few friends on this problem, I finally decided to buy the cream that were highly recommended by them to try it out.

~ Clarins Stretch Mark Control Cream and Body Treatment Oil ~

This cream and oil really save my skin from the dryness and itchiness. After a week I put them on day and night, my skin really improves quite a lot. Even though there were a few days when I was too busy taking care of Kimi and forgot to apply the cream and oil, but my skin no longer feel so itchy. I no longer need to scratch my skin until I can feel the pain on my skin anymore. It is really amazing for me! I finally find a solution for my dry skin during this pregnancy.

Besides folic acid, I took the daily Vitamins during my early pregnancy. Starting in July during my monthly check-up at 15 weeks+, I started to take the Fish Oil and Calcium Pills as advised by the Gynae.

~ Blood Pressure Monitor ~

* I bought this Blood Pressure Monitor at a very good deal during the promotions at Watsons in June!

I told Gynae on my first pregnancy experience on high blood pressure. She asked me to get a blood pressure monitor at home so that I can monitor the blood pressure myself at home whenever I can. We find this idea very good, as I do not only rely on the reading during every time check-up to decide whether I need to be on medications or not. At least with my own monitoring at home, I no need to everyday worry whether is my blood pressure high on today or not.

Every time whenever I go for my monthly check-up, my blood pressure always seems higher than normal. Perhaps I am too excited to see my 2nd baby whenever there is a check-up. Hehe :) But when I monitor my blood pressure at home and record them down in a paper for my Gynae to see, the blood pressure is always normal reading. So as of now, no need to take any actions yet unless my home blood pressure reading is on the high side. Hope my blood pressure can be normal all the time so that I no need to be under medications.

Besides having very bad cough for one-month long and now in the recovering stage, I am enjoying my every single day of my second pregnancy’s journey now ~

Charcoal World Steamboat

Last Saturday, we celebrated FIL’s birthday. FIL always like to eat steamboat, so we brought him to this newly opened ‘Charcoal World Steamboat’ nearby our house.

We reached there around 6p.m. and it was already a bit crowded. Luckily we were there early and got our table immediately. They opened not long ago so I never expect the business can be so good on a weekend. Hehe ~ We did not make any reservations. I think we need to wait for our seats if we were to be half an hour later reached there.

Everything in the menu looks so tempting, so we end up order so much food! Luckily portions are not big, we manage to finish up everything!!

They have a room with workers burning the charcoal to get ready for the steamboat…
They have a few types of soup based. We ordered their speciality ‘BlackBone Chicken Broth’ for our soup base as recommended by the waitress. This soup base is RM60.00 per portion. Very delicious!!

Overall, price is reasonable for a steamboat session of 6 persons. he food we ordered also very fresh. FIL enjoyed the food a lot. We brought our own prawns so our total spending did not cover the prawns price. We paid a total of RM 202.10 included beverages.

We had a simple dinner at home. As it is a Chinese Birthday, so I cooked ‘Mee Suah’ and made some red eggs for Kimi.

Kimi’s Daddy bought him a piece of ‘Strawberry Ice-Cream Cake’ from Häagen-Dazs... I think Mummy wants to eat the cake more than Kimi ~ Haha :)

Macaroon Baking Workshop

After 2 times of postponing the classes, I finally can make it on the 3rd date which I have booked earlier. If I cannot make it for this time, I think my fee is going to go into the drains. So, I must make sure this round, I definitely can make it. Luckily Kimi has recovered around 80% from his sick, now left a bit of flu. So Hubby helped me to take care of him at home today, while I went for this Macaroon Baking Class as I planned since a few months ago.

I think I won’t write much here, let the photos do the writing ~

We were grouped in a Group of 4 persons. Now, it is our turns to try it out ourselves ~

I always like to bake… So I really enjoyed the class a lot! Hope that I can have more chances in the future to go for baking lessons to learn more recipes ~

~ My small achievement for today ~

The recipe to share which I learnt it from the class:
Ground almonds – 125 gms
Icing sugar – 125 gms
Egg whites – 45 gms
Sugar – 125 gms
Egg whites – 45 gms
Colouring

Method:
Mix together ground almonds and icing sugar with first egg whites and desired colour;
Make Italian meringue with sugar and second egg whites;
Fold meringue into ground almond mixture and pipe onto a sheet pan;
Bake at 150 Celsius for about 8-10 minutes.

First Trimester Prenatal Screening

Finally, I try to find some time to sit down and jot down my pregnancy journey for Baby No. 2. As I was too busy taking care of a sick toddler at home, I think I miss out a lot of this little’s one journey… So today, I try to dig out some of the memories that I can so that I can write down in my blog for me to remember the process.

Date: 10th June 2011

As explained by my Gynae during the last monthly check-up, today I had the First Trimester Prenatal Screening which is known as the Nuchal Scan. I think during Kimi’s time, I did not do this scan. So as discussed and recommended by the Gynae, after I did some reading and asked some opinions from friends on this scan, Hubby decided that I should go for it. I was told by the Gynae that this scan best to be done during the 11th to 13th weeks of pregnancy. So I did mine at my 12 weeks+ of pregnancy. I got the scan report on the spot and baby showed low risk on down syndrome. It was totally a new experience for me and Hubby. Perhaps this was our first time doing this screening, we really very impressed throughout the whole scanning process. Together with this Nuchal Scan, I did the First Trimester Blood Test as well on this day. But the down side is that, to do both the scan and the blood test together are a bit pricey. It costs us RM710.00 excluded the consultation fee.

I personally prefer this Gynae more than the previous one which I had during Kimi’s time. Every time I have my check-up, she shares information with me which I did not know during my first pregnancy. I think I gain a little bit more knowledge during this second pregnancy :)

Tokyo Street at Pavilion KL

06.08.2011 - Today’s evening we decided to visit the newly opened ‘Tokyo Street’ located at Level 6, Pavilion KL. As Kimi is still having his coughs, we do not stay long there. I took some photos and see what’s inside the street, then we headed back home after dinner.

There are a few Japanese restaurants, one bakery, some local Japan’s delights and souvenirs shops, and also Daiso is in the street too. For a full list of what’s in the street, can view it at this link: Tokyo Street ~

After scouting around, I decided to try out the ‘Mochi Sweets’. I saw a long queue when I was there, so out of curiosity, I joined the crowd too :) I bought myself one Red Bean (RM3.50) and one Mango Yogurt (RM4.00) to try out. I think perhaps I like to eat Mochi very much, that’s why I find them very delicious! There are very soft and smooth with very yummy fillings in it. Thumbs up !

Today also marks Kimi’s 23rd months’ old ~ Time flies… One more month to go before he turns 2 years old.

Kimi seems like a big boy now ~ He can now take a bread and eat on his own (but of course he cannot finish up the whole bread, munch abit then don’t want already)… But luckily, despite sick for so long, his appetite is still considered quite OK. Hope that Kimi can fully recover from all his sicknesses very soon!!

~ A little update on me…. I am currently at my Week 20 ~

Okay… a clearer view on how I look like at Week 20 of pregnancy’s journey ~ I have gone through half of the journey and another half more to go!! Can see a small tummy on me already. Very soon, I am going to meet with my baby No. 2… Waiting eagerly for the day to arrive ~

Chinese Medicine: Hou Zao San

My poor Kimi has not been having good sleeps for the past one week+. He coughs a lot during his sleeping time and with phlegm making him once a while woke up and vomited in the middle of the night. After 3 times of consulting the doctor, besides feeding him those medicine which I could, I seriously do not know what else can be done to make him recover faster.

Today I was chatting with a friend of mine. She recommended some Chinese herbs for me to buy for Kimi to try. She said is very effective remedy to cure phlegm. So I goggled it and found out a lot of mummies out there also using the same herb to cure their babies/toddlers phlegm problem. My friend asked me to buy it from ‘Eu Yan Sang’ but I called up a few branches also no stocks available.

Herb’s Name: Hou Zao San
English name for this formula: Monkey Gallstone Powder

Finally I found it at the Chinese herbs medical hall at One Utama ~

The one I got for Kimi is only for one time dosage… It costs me RM390.00. Never realize that Chinese medicine can be this expensive!! The uncle there measured it for me while kept on letting me know on how good this thing is and is not easy to find a really genuine type. He told me, to be more effective, it is better to let Kimi has 2 dosages at least. But then since it is a bit expensive, so we only bought one dosage to try it out first. He cut it into tiny slices and made them into powder.

This one dosage, I think is not even can fill up one teaspoon. The amount is so little only!! But I really hope it can cure Kimi’s phlegm very soon.

Besides that, I also bought some ready-packed type for Kimi to eat it daily for a few times. One box costs me RM18 only. So I store up 2 boxes at home. One box has 6 small sachets in it.

Note: The uncle there informs me that there is another cheaper version of Hou Zao San which costs around RM100++. It is from those smaller Gallstone which are made from tiny little pieces. They are very saleable but might not be as effective. When I am at the shop, they currently do not have the stocks for this.

Kimi has been taking too much medicine for the past 2 weeks. Hubby and I decided to buy some Chinese herbs to boil for Kimi after he has fully recovered from his sick. The uncle there gave us a recipe and told us the usage of it. He recommends one type of combination which is good for building up metabolism, reducing phlegm and coughing. He said is good for kids and adults too. After considerations, we asked the uncle there to pack 3 dosages for us. Kimi can drink it every alternate days. It needs to be boiled for 3 hours in 2 small bowls of water.

I do not know how to type it in Chinese words, so I took a picture of the price tags to share the Chinese words here… The amount that you read here are divided into 3 dosages. You can add in the Tangerine Peel if you want to…

We have the cordyceps at home, so we do not get it from the medical hall. This is how some of the herbs look like… I not yet open the packets to boil the herbs so do not have a clear picture of them.

The picture below was taken while I was in the shop waiting for the uncle to pack the herbs for me. It was not very clear as I was using my mobile phone to shot this picture… But these are some of the herbs used… For those who are familiar with Chinese medicine should know what are there. I only can recognize the two dried almonds. Haha ~ I seriously have very little knowledge on all these… Luckily the uncle there is very friendly to teach and explain them to me!

Oooo… while I was clearing some of Kimi’s medicine, only did I realize that he had so many type of medicines to eat. Just that every visits to the paediatrician, he prescribed those medicines depends on Kimi’s conditions. The last round was we visited the normal GP to cure Kimi’s nappy rash’s problem. He has been having diarrhoea since he is sick and resulting him to have quite serious nappy rashes. We got some cream for him from the clinic and to stock up some fever medicine at home. Hope that that will be the last time he visits a doctor ~

Really pray hard Kimi to recover from all those sickness soon! It is really pitiful to see him sick especially coughs so often during his sleeping time ~ Wish Kimi can have a good night sleep soon!

Kimi Starts his Montessori… A new lesson for Mummy!

At his age of 22 months, I sent him to Montessori. Kimi has been a sociable toddler all these while, and I thought he can take the new place very soon. But never did I expect he cried so badly on the first day. We put him there for a hew hours only on the first day to let him slowly adapting into the Montessori life. One day passed, two days passed, three days passed and so on… Every day he cried when I put him there. But luckily the teachers and the helpers there are very helpful. Teacher even sent me SMSes and short video clips to update us Kimi’s progress. The teachers there told us, no need to worry, they will try to settle down Kimi and assisting him to his new place. They are really very helpful!

Date: 7th July 2011

However, I realized I took his emotions too lightly forgetting that he might need more time to adapt... Haih… My poor baby…. Not too sure is it because he has been crying too badly, or is he feeling scare or unsecure with the new place, or his immunity system is a bit weak …. Kimi fell sick on the 4th day night, very high fever!

All came one after another. I think not long after he recovered from his fever, he got his cough virus spread from me in another week… Haih, fever, coughing and running nose visited him again…. Poor Kimi! For the past one week++, he has been seeing doctor for a total of 3 times and did one nebulizer treatment in hospital. I think Kimi has been eating medicine until scare and I fed him fed until I myself also scare. We have been forcing him to eat those medicine, and then he rejected them by vomited out everything, making his recovery period takes longer. Cleaning up the mess after Kimi vomited and trying to make him feel ease after crying are my daily jobs for the past almost 2 weeks. But the lucky thing is that, despite he is sick, Kimi still can continue with his daily activities at home, playing and watching TV, eating his food and drinking his milk (although the intake is lesser compare to before sick, he is still able to drink it). Really hope that Kimi can fully recover very soon!

But then he cried a lot after we left! Pity him ~ Hope that he will adapt into the new environment very soon. The teachers there told us that Kimi is getting better on each day. But due to he is on and off sick, he has been absent from his Montessori for a few days already. Wondering will he get used to it when we send him back there again after he is fully recovered?

Thanks to Hubby for his help all these weeks… We took turns to apply leaves. He even changed his working shifts a couple of times with his colleague just to fetch Kimi to see the doctor and helped me to take care of Kimi. I think without him, I won’t be able to go through these few days alone by myself.

Hope that Kimi can recover very soon and be a healthy toddler always!

The Second ‘Double Lines’ News

Finally I have some time to sit down and blog about this happy news of mine. I think I will be very busy starting next week to adapt into a new daily timetable, so I think I better blog it down first before my busy and hectic life starts...

Date: 10th April 2011

When my period was due on April, I bought myself a test stripe and sad to find out that it was negative. Again, it was not the results which I was always longing for. I told myself, Well, don’t be too sad… Must think positively. Perhaps, the next time, I will see the double lines very soon.

Date: 24th April 2011

Period still not yet come. I don’t know why, perhaps it is natural woman’s instinct… I feel that I might be pregnant. This feeling seems to be very strong. So, I told Hubby why not we test it again. And, this round, I saw the double lines on the test stripe!! It was a great news for us!! Superbly happy and excited…. But however, due to the negative test that we had earlier on 2 weeks ago, in order to prove that the double lines test was not a false alarm, we tested it again in another few more days before decided the date to visit the Gynae to seek professional advice on this pregnancy.

Both tests were the results that we had been waiting for ~
Finally, the ‘little rabbit’ baby is slowly hopping into our lives !

Date: 6th May 2011

Both of us took a day off today to accompany Kimi who was in KL. Since it was an off day, we decided to visit the Gynae to verify the accuracy of this news. We brought Kimi with us to witness this special moment together. When I was lying down on the bed to wait for the doctor to do the scanning for me, my heart beat very fast! So worry that the doctor would tell me, it was a false alarm… Praying hard ~~

Thank God, it was a piece of good news! We saw the tiny little dot on the screen and heard the baby’s heart beats as well. It was really a very unforgettable moment for the THREE of us! Haha…. not too sure if Kimi could remember this day or not, or whether he knew what was happening or not, but I was very glad that Kimi was there to share our happiness ~

On this day, the Gynae informed me that I was about 6 weeks++ pregnant. EDD will be on 23rd December 2011. Wow, we will be expecting our little baby during the Christmas week! Can’t wait for this special day to arrive…

After a few months of preparations, the NAPEI 30th Malaysian Education Fair 2011 has finally ended successfully. At least for now, the work burden can be put down for a while, no need to be so stressful for the next few days :)

Life…

This afternoon, Hubby came to fetch me to eat one of my favourite’s food, ‘Ipoh Hor Fun with a plate of chicken breast meat’, somewhere near Taman Paramount there. I couldn’t recall when was the last time we visited this shop, but it should be long time ago. A very satisfied meal!

However, we came across an unpleasant incident after the lunch….

After lunch, we walked to take our car and passed by a clinic. We saw an old lady walking around seeking for help, to find someone who was able to send her back to her house. No one agrees to it. And we saw her slowly walked to Hubby and asked for help. She said she needed to go back to her son’s house which is located at TTDI.

Her son sent her to see doctor there but couldn’t send her back home. So now she has no transport to get back home. Hubby pitied her conditions and without thinking twice, he agreed to her.

At that moment of time, I was wondering myself, what if this grandma is a con woman? Don’t know is it safe for us to put a stranger in our car just like that? But looking at her desperation of wanting to go back home, I put those worries aside and assisted Hubby to seat her in car. She cannot walk well at her age of 80+ years. She needs assistance when walks downs from the steps. At that time I was thinking, how can her children leave her just like that?

In the car, she kept on said sorry to us for troubling us. She said she old already, so no one likes her. Throughout the journey, she shared a bit of her life to us, how she moved in to stay with her son, how her daughter-in-law has been treating her, etc... I was a bit shocked when I heard those stories. It sounds very dramatic and yet it is the truth of her life. At that moment of time, I have some teary eyes on me. Never did I expect that, there is really such a thing happened in our daily lives. Or perhaps shall I say, all the while, I never wanting to believe that there is such a thing really can happen!

We do pity this grandma a lot... She has son and she has grandchildren, but when she is sick, no one can fetch her back after she consults the doctor. Under the hot sun, she is seeking for help. I am just wondering…. If one day the man (grandma’s son) grows old, and his son treats him like how he treats his mum now, how will he feel?

Well, writing this blog is not to show off on how we fetch this grandma back safely to her house. I just want to share that, do cherish every single person in your family. Treat your family members better! You might not know what will happen on the next moment. Live your life with no regrets!

I am very glad that I have my warm families with me all the time. Thanks to everyone who has been treating me good in my life!! I know, with you all around, I am a BLESSED person ^_^

A 2-Days Trip Up North

Last Sunday, we went to Penang to attend one of my good friend’s wedding dinner. Hubby decided to fetch me there after adjusted his working schedule instead of me flying to Penang by myself. We brought Kimi with us for a short holiday too.

This round to Penang, I kept on told myself that I must bring Kimi to visit the Charlie Brown Café. This was the first time Kimi met with so many snoopy! He was really excited. Running here and there! Luckily we had food to finally able to put him to sit with us. He enjoyed those cheesecakes a lot and wanted to eat by himself… Snoopy is a new cartoon character to Kimi, hope he likes it!

This time, we chose to stay in the Hotel where the wedding dinner is held so that easier for us to control Kimi. And this Kimi is very not co-operative during the dinner. He wanted to come down from his baby chair and walked around after the first dish was served. Out of no choice, Hubby decided to bring him back to the room and played with him so that I could continue to enjoy the dinner while chatting with my bunch of friends. Thanks Hubby for helping me to take care of Kimi the whole night all by himself! Otherwise I might not be able to enjoy the gathering with my friends ~

The next day, a sudden plan to bring Kimi to visit the Penang Hill to try out the Funicular Train. This was the first time I been to Penang Hill as well. Very nice view from the top and weather is very cooling too! Kimi enjoyed his walk very much… I think more to run around! Haha… We spent some time chasing him all the time.

A very nice trip this round… Although very tired, we enjoyed the time spent with Kimi! And very glad to see Kimi enjoyed himself too ~

Bargains from Warehouse Sales

This weekend as Hubby needed to work, so we did not manage to go back Taiping to visit Kimi. Really hope can get to visit him real soon… Misses him a lot!!

After Hubby settled his work, we went out for a while to search for some new furniture for our future house. Saw some great bargains on the newspaper, and we went to survey the prices.

While we were on the road, we saw some street buntings advertisement on the Warehouse Sales for Corningware, Corelle, etc. so we decided to drop by to have a look as we need to get some cookware and plates for our new house too.

It was not very crowded and the hall was quite empty. I believed most people had came on the day before to grab the good deals. After examined the products we have chosen, we were glad that we did not need to queue long to pay money. Very happy that I managed to buy some things for our future ‘home sweet home’. I did not really know were they really a good buy, but then I phoned MIL before we bought those things, and she said the price were ok, cheaper than departmental stores. So Hubby said OK, BUY! Hope that I won’t be cheated by the warehouse sales bargains...

Deng…. Deng…. Deng… Our achievements for the day!

Well, is it a good bargain??!!

Kimi at 20 months and 2 weeks’ Old

Last Saturday, we went back to Taiping for a 2D1N weekend. To be exact, minus the travelling time we used on the road, we were in Taiping for around 24 hours only.

Spent some quality time with Kimi… This round back, we brought back some of his existing toys which he had in KL back for him. Otherwise, he is busy watching TV most of his time. PIL bought him a new white board, so asked us to bring back his magnetic alphabets and numbers for him. Haha, when I searched back in my house, most of it also cannot be tracked, don’t know where Kimi placed them. So we decided to buy another new packet for him. This time we bought a bigger set so that he can have enough to play and learn

One of Kimi’s activities is to watch cartoons… He can on the TV and DVD player himself, and then choose the DVD he wants to watch, places it correctly in the player and plays it. After that, he will take out his favourite chair and sits down to watch the cartoons. This is how he sits occasionally, leisure style… But most time he will be half-sitting or half-standing while watching TV and laughs out loudly when he sees funny actions (through his own imaginations). Hehe ~~

Kimi can say out ‘1,2,3’ in mandarin once a while, and sometimes miss out the no. ‘2’. I don’t think I teach him numbers in mandarin before, perhaps he always sees me taking out camera and before I capture the photo of him, will always say, “Kimi, 1,2,3… Smile!”. So, he learns how to pronounce these 3 numbers through our daily actions. Now, whenever I play running activities with him, he will stand there, and then counts '1,2,3’ and OFF he runs! This is a very tiring activity for me and cannot always play because Kimi really has unlimited of energy to use!

Last weekend, he showed to us his mosquitoes bite on his legs. We teach him how to pronounce the word ‘BITE’. After a while, he pointed to us the mosquitoes bites marks on his legs and told us ‘Bite-Bite’. He repeatedly told us about his bites when he was scratching it. Glad that Kimi learnt and added a new vocabulary on last weekend.

Grandma's Birthday - A Weekend Trip Back to Pontian

14th May 2011 - I travelled back to Pontian without Hubby and Kimi this time. Ah Ma celebrated her birthday on last Saturday. As Kimi was in Taiping and Hubby couldn't make it, so I back myself with cousins.

It was a short 2 days trip but I definitely would not miss out the delicious 'Bak Kut Teh' for breakfast. A very happy family breakfast with mum and dad, sisters and brother :) Yummy!

Not to forget, my mum home-made 'Bak Chang' with red bean paste.... Mummy specially made some dumplings for us as most of our relatives were back to Pontian for Ah Ma's birthday over that weekend.

Besides the delicious food, we really had a good gathering! After the dinner, a couple of my aunties went to sing Karaoke with us (together with a few cousins) until 2am. What a HAPPY weekend!

Kimi is 20 months' old today... Actually I am a bit tired at this hour, but thinking of jotting down some of his recent activities while he was with us in KL for one week so that I can remember the days we spent together.

Tomorrow we are sending him back to Taiping already... Time flies! One week has gone so fast just like that ~

Last weekend we brought him back to Pontian to spend the long weekend. Hubby took one week off to help to take care of Kimi. Thanks to him so much!

Kimi enjoyed his stay in Pontian very much! Played a lot too ~

Kimi with his Great-Grandma and Grandma enjoyed viewing the cats in the sea... It was on low tide that evening, so there were some cats down there eating the food ~~ His Great-Grandma purposely threw some food down so that the cats could gather together and ate them, and Kimi could see the cats longer :)

Today I took half day leave, decided to accompany Hubby and Kimi who were at home. We brought Kimi out for window shopping. Before heading back home, we went to try out the Snow Flakes which I wanted to try it for some time. Every time passed by the shop, sure is super long queue. Today we were there early, so not many people and we managed to grab a table. I ordered the 'Soya Ice Series'.... Reminded the waiter not to make it too sweet. So this time at least I find it really worth for a try. The ice tasted good with the soya taste! I think can go back to try out more varieties again

At 20 months' old, Kimi seems like a more sensible toddler. Although he likes to shout when he sees new things, although he likes to run when we let go his hands in shopping malls, he is considered quite manageable for me at his age now. He can understand some simple instructions when we talk to him. Although sometimes he does not follow all, most of time, he seems to understand us and do as what we tell him. Besides too much like to eat when he sees food and too rough, the rest of his attitudes are quite acceptable as of now. Hope he can be more and more sensible as he grows older :) That's my biggest wish for this coming Mother's Day!!

At 20 months' old, he increases some of his vocabularies. He says:
~ 'Dod' for Donald Duck
~ 'Jerry' for Tom and Jerry
~ 'Dei-dei' for Mickey Mouse (I actually don't really understand how this words came out from his mouth because it did not seem to be connected. Haha!)
~ 'Bird'
~ 'Jie-jie' for small girls he meets
~ 'Baby' for babies he meets
~ ‘Mai’ for the things that he does not want (This is in Hokkien dialect)

At 20 months' old, he will hold your hands and ask you to help him do the things that he wants. He will hold your hands when he is down from the car, but then runs wild when he reaches the place he thinks he can play around with. He will nod on his heads when you ask him, 'Kimi, do you want to brush your teeth?' and then walks to take his toothbrush and starts brushing. Although the way he brushes his teeth are not in a very correct way, it is really funny to see him doing all these by himself :)

Kolo Photo Albums

We have been searching for a suitable photo album to store Kimi's photos which we took in The Picture Company for the past one year. We developed the photos into different sizes, so it was a bit difficult to get an album which can fit them up all.

Hubby has been searching online to find a solution and finally he showed to me this site: http://kolo.com/. He said the photo albums look nice and asked me to survey on it. There is a 'Live Chat' function on the website. I registered myself and spoke to the sales agent there. I discussed the requirements I need for the photos albums. The sales agents explained to me the types of photo albums available and let me know the type which fit into my requirements. After a couple of times of discussions, I finally decided on the model to buy. But sad to know that they do not ship outside from the US. They do have a Kolo Dealer in Malaysia, but they only carry a minimum of 40% of the Kolo products selection.

Luckily, I suddenly thought of brother who was at the US on a business trip. So I faster MSN him to get him buy for me. He ordered online and got the photo albums shipped to the hotel where he was staying. So happy! I finally got to buy the photo albums which we wanted.

Last Friday, he came to KL to visit me over the weekend and brought those photo albums for me! Very satisfied ~ Like the book cover and the texture of the papers very much!

I was advised by the sales agents to also buy the 'Photo Corners' and 'Photo Mounts' together. I need to use it together with the Newport series of photo albums.

After spending some time putting the ‘photo corners' on the photos, I started to stick them on the photo albums... This is how the album looks like ~

Mother's Corn Baby Products

Last Friday, I went to the Smart Kids Fair with my colleague. Our company was invited by the organizer to attend the Opening Ceremony. After the ceremony, we walked around the Fair.

After a few rounds, I saw a booth which sold some toddlers stuffs. Initially I was more interested with their chairs but I ended up bought these for Kimi!

I very like their designs and usage especially the '4-Way Snack Cup Set'. I find it really very useful. When I bought back and let Kimi used it, everyone was praising me for buying the snack cup back! Even Hubby also said I got Kimi a good buy! Hehe.... I am so Happy!

These products are all BPA Free and have also obtained container safety certification. They are all made of corn. A series of environmental-friendly product! I really like those products a lot. So I bought a few types to let Kimi tries them out. Hope can add on more in the future! Hehe :)

Kimi's tiny little hands in the snack cup ~

The silicon lid for snack cup can prevent bigger pieces of baby biscuits to fall out from the cup even when you turn the cup upside down. Of course, you don't put in those tiny crumbs in it. You may end up picking those tiny crumbs ya ~

I let Kimi to try eating by himself using the spoon with the 'Happy Meal Plate'. He seems like enjoying his meal by eating from the spoon himself. But I need to clean up the mess he left for me after that. But I cleaned them up happily too! I Miss Kimi !

It is only a few hours after I sent Kimi off this afternoon, but I am already missing him very much. It was really sour at heart when we sent him off this afternoon and he was crying in the car when we waved him ‘Bye-Bye’…. This was the first time we saw him acted in this way. Never did happen before… He used to enjoy his car rides every time, but today, he cried in the car! Not too sure why this happened, but I was telling myself, I think Kimi misses us too as much as we miss him ~

I was feeling a little bit blue when I reached home, don’t know what can I do for tonight, so I decided to write blog putting up some of Kimi’s photos took on last weekend. He is getting more and more playful. Hehe!

We went to have dinner with my Ah Ma and Uncles’ Family. Ah Ma came from Johor to stay for a couple of weeks, so one of my uncles came from Penang to visit her too ~ We had dinner together on Saturday night so I brought Kimi with me

My Annual Education Fairs

It has been such a long time since I wrote about my work life… Every year, we need to travel to East Malaysia at least once, for the Education Fair over there. This year I only made it to go Kota Kinabalu as I was stationed to be in KL instead of Kuching for another Education Fair which was going on at the same time.

It is really a great experience whenever I go for fairs. When you are giving the correct information on where and what to study to the students, you will feel very happy, isn’t it? Especially to those who are still do not know where to head, or do not even know how their future will be like… I like my job in the sense that besides a normal marketing portfolio, I once a while can guide those teenagers who are not so sure about their future on the correct pathway to choose their tertiary education. I really hope that their parents hard-earned money won’t go into drains and at the end of the day, they graduate will proudly and be confident of themselves! Nowadays education fees are not cheap OK! So please do make sure that we use our parents’ money wisely ~

Besides going for Education Fairs in KL or outstations, I also once a while need to attend conferences and seminars… We have the a table space there to promote our company products. Haha, to be frank, I enjoy the coffee sessions most of the time! As sometimes the conference might not have a lot of crowd, so being there the whole day can really feel super bored ~ So to pass by time, besides networking with our neighbours and participations during the events, I fill up the time with coffee in my stomach… So, coffee overdose things do happen once a while! Hehe

A Fun-Filled Weekend

Last weekend, I meet up with some new friends (Hubby’s colleagues) and my old friends… A very fun weekend!

Saturday I followed Hubby to the BBQ session with his colleagues which is held quarterly. I prepared some ‘kuehs’ to bring over besides some other BBQ things which were in our list to prepare them.

Our BBQ session started around 8pm after the fire was lit! Thanks to Hubby’s hardworking colleagues whom prepared all the foodies and also hosting all of US at their house. We had a GREAT night!

This chubby little pretty girl is Hubby’s colleague daughter. She is about 4 months younger than Kimi. Too bad, both of them didn’t have chance to meet up. Otherwise would be more fun then… She just started learnt to walk by herself. Very cute girl!!

Sunday I went to meet up two of my old friends for lunch… After the lunch, we had a small birthday celebrations for Wendy (although it was a bit too early).

My CookBook, Sunway Giza

I have read article on My CookBook recently commenting on their good food served. So today my friends and I decided to give it a try after my recommendations.

~ The restaurant’s decors ~

The menu does not have a lot of choices… As one of my friends didn’t make it to come, only two of us, so we didn’t order their appetizers, worried we couldn’t finish them up. So we ordered one main course each for ourselves and a drink ~

Not bad the taste, quite refreshing!

Barley Pandan Rice with Chicken Curry @ RM15.90

with 45-minute Poached Egg @ RM26.90
(Highly recommended by the waitress)

Both main dishes tasted OK… Nothing big to ‘Ummppph’ about. The curry chicken’s gravy is a bit too thick. The King Prawn Noodles to me tasted more like the Malay style ‘Mee Udang’ which we can find at the Northern part of Malaysia. But overall, the soup is delicious.

But I personally feel that the portion is not big. Haha… maybe I am a big eater or perhaps I was too hungry at that time. But then again, for the price that we have paid, I am not too sure, is it for the quality of the food or the restaurant’s ambience? Both also nothing much to shout about. My friend and I share the same thinking that the food there are a bit over-priced.

If I ever walk into this restaurant again, perhaps I should try the food that is not highly recommended by the waiters there… Perhaps the normal food there taste even nicer than the ones which are recommended. We paid RM61.15 for this meal which include 10% of service charge. But I think I got a bit out of service here so the 10% charge does not seem reasonable to me during this visit ~

Anyway, still not too sure, will I walk into this restaurant again??

Kimi’s First Trip to Melaka

Date: 19th March 2011

PIL sent Kimi back to KL on that weekend for the coming Hong Kong trip. As what they have planned out, they are going to meet MIL’s sister family in Melaka on this day. Hubby and I had no plans on the Saturday, so we last minute decided to follow them for a day tour. They were going there for a 2-days trip.

When we reached Melaka, it was raining very heavily. We couldn’t even walked down from the car to the Hotel. So we waited for some time in the car while waiting for the rain to slow down.

After checking-in to the Hotel located in Jonkers Street, we walked to a nearby restaurant for a simple lunch while waiting for Hubby’s aunt family to arrive from Singapore.

It was still drizzling after our lunch… We couldn’t walk too far with Kimi. So we went to the shop next door to have Cendol. FIL said it was very delicious ~

After that PIL went to walk around and we brought Kimi back to the Hotel to rest since it was raining… We wouldn’t want him to catch a flu under the rain since he will be travelling soon again.

The hotel serves free flow of coffee and tea at their lobby. So I had my cup of coffee there while Kimi was playing with his magazine…

Finally we managed to go out after the rain and met up the rest of them!!

Hong Kong Family Trip: Day 4 & 5 to The Disneyland

Our very-looking forward days have finally arrived…. After our FOODFUL breakfast at Shenzhen, we checked out from the Hotel and travel back to Hong Kong.

We had a bit of unforeseen circumstances during the travelling back to Hong Kong, so the time we reached the Disneyland was a bit late. By the time we arrived and checked-in to the hotel, it was already 4.00pm. Wasted a bit of time during the journey, so we didn’t manage to spend long in the Disneyland. Only managed to snap some photos there and then rushed back to the hotel for our buffet dinner.

This was the happiest moment for Kimi throughout the whole trip. He enjoyed the dinner a lot as he got to play with the Mickey, Minnie and the Piglet!! He had soOoo much fun time there…

Kimi is the happiest boy on this night!

He was having so much fun with the Disney cartoon characters during the dinner especially with the Piglet. He even wanted to share his milk with the Piglet... Hehe, what a funny sight :) Although it was a short dinner, Kimi was sooOoo HAPPY the whole night ~~ Daddy and Mummy were so glad that he enjoyed himself !!

Kimi chase the Mickey and Minnie until the kitchen... He was so busy chatting with the Minnie. While Mickey and Minnie went back for a short rest, Kimi didn't want to let them go... He even cried when he sent them off to the kitchen. Ended up, the Mickey came out for a while more and gave Kimi another HUG ~

After the hug, Kimi feels better and gets back to play his balloon again. What a funny sight! Seeing this scene really makes Hubby and I can’t help to laugh at him.

Kimi Plays Along with his Favourite Barney Show

Kimi likes to watch Barney a lot... I think most toddlers like to watch it too :) But never did I expect that Kimi likes Barney so much until he knows how to call Barney with his self-created word ‘Ba – Ba ’ since a few months ago.

Whenever he wants to watch the DVD, he will show it to me and then keeps on repeating saying ‘Ba – Ba’. After that he will walk to the sofa and sit quietly on the sofa waiting for me to play it. And the show BEGINS!!

This is one of the DVDs which we bought for Kimi recently. After he watched once, he started to imitate what the show was showing. Very cute of him whenever he does this so I decided to take a short video clip and uploaded it in my blog.

Marching Into 19 Months soon

6th of April marks Kimi 19 months’ old… Supposed we are sending him to the Montessori starting this month, but due to some of our working arrangements, Hubby and I decided to continue putting Kimi in Taiping until end of June. We have postponed his Montessori's enrolment to the July intake. This means that for now, I am not able to see Kimi on everyday basis. Haih …. No choice, I might be a bit more tied up with some work and might not be able to send him in and out everyday to the Montessori on time.

At 18 months++ old …..
Kimi knows how to call me ‘Ma-mi’ clearly!! This is my happiest moment for now. Before this, he is either calling me ‘Mum-mum’ or ‘Maaa’ and not as clear as he calls his ‘Pa-pa’. But now he is able to call me correctly and very clearly. Haha, Kimi’s Daddy, now it is your turn to be jealous of ME!! Wuahahhaahaha

Kimi starts to brush his teeth. I teach him to stand in front of the basin, and then put the silicone toothbrush and slowly teach him how to brush his teeth. He still does not know how to do it correctly yet, but it is ok, at least he can slowly learn how to do it and get into the habit of brushing teeth ~

It is very soft and the stopper to prevent toddler from hurting the throat while brushing the teeth. Moreover it can also prevent Kimi from putting the whole toothbrush into his mouth…

I started to stop giving Kimi his pacifier during his sleeping time. I started it officially yesterday and hope that it can last forever… My poor little boy kept on mumbled ‘Ma-Mi, neh-neh ~ Ma-Mi, neh-neh’ when he wants to sleep... But his cruel Mummy refused to give it to him for the whole day. Hopefully soon, he will totally forget about it and stop mumbling 'neh-neh'.... Haha, 'neh-neh' is Kimi's self-created name for his pacifier ^_ ^ What a cute name!!

Kimi knows how to pick up a little dust on the floor and then throw it into the dustbin by himself. After that, he will clap his hands by doing so… What a funny sight! He even picked up a tiny hair from the floor before and asked me to throw into the rubbish bin. Was it because he saw me did that before? Or he learns himself daily from what I have been teaching him? Anyway, it is glad to know that Kimi prefers a cleaner environment… He does not like dirty things I guess.

Kimi likes to play ball a lot!! Whenever he sees any balls, he will definitely shout out loud ‘Ball-Ball’… This was one of the earliest word which Kimi learnt in his vocabulary and until now is still his favourite word.

As Hubby works on evening shift this week and I don’t have car to drive out, so we hardly bring Kimi goes out to play these few days. This morning, Hubby spent some time with both of us as Kimi needs to go back to Taiping tomorrow already. So he brought Kimi out for some car rides ~

Hong Kong Family Trip: Day 3 to Shenzhen

Date: 24th March 2011

We are travelling to Shenzhen today to meet up Grandma’s nephews and nieces. They are travelling from different parts of China to meet Grandma at Shenzhen for dinner. So nice and friendly of them!

After breakfast, we still have a bit of time before checking-out from the Hotel. So we walked to Causeway Bay for some quick shopping. As time was very limited, I ended didn’t get to buy anything here. I actually got a bit disappointed over this. But no choice, need to rush to Shenzhen already… Hope next time I can have more time for shopping :)

We took a cab from the hotel to ‘Luohu Station’ <罗湖站>. From ‘Luohu’, we took the train to ‘Hung Hom Station’ to access to Shenzhen. Very convenient! Just that we we need to be extra careful when we are walking to the Custom as we have a toddler and Grandma with us. We need to keep them by our side all the time as the place is very crowded with people. The whole journey takes around 2 hours. Not very long and not difficult…. Just like from Pontian travels to Singapore like that ~

Finally, we reached Shenzhen. We took a van from the Custom to our Hotel. We checked into the ‘Vienna Hotel (Fu Hua)’. Address: No.73 Fuhua Road, Futian District, Shenzhen, China. The room is so much bigger than the room we had in Hong Kong and the price is much more cheaper as well. We paid RMB 198 per room per night only. Very good deal! The hotel is clean and comfy as well. Kimi has more space to run around too...

After we rest for a while, Grandma’s nieces and nephews arrived. Ah Ma has a great chat with them and did not want to join us for the afternoon tea. So Hubby, Uncle and I walked out from the Hotel to find some light snacks before the dinner. We had a quick bite before met them up at the hotel again.

As we still have a bit of time before the dinner, so one of the Aunt suggested to bring me to ‘Dong Men Shopping Street’ <东门老街> to do some shopping. This is a very big place with loads of things to see… Too bad, we only have around one hour to spend here, so I don’t have much time to grab things here. Another disappointment as I only managed to buy 2 shirts here. There are sooOoo many shops which I have yet to explore! Well, I tell myself again, next time then….

It is dinner time!! We met up Grandma and the rest at the restaurant. We really had a very sumptuous meal!! They ordered a lot of food and all also very delicious. We enjoyed the food a lot!

What a GREAT reunion for everyone!

Not to forget our Group Photo before we left the restaurant. Grandma had a good day today. She is very happy to see so many people came and met her up! Glad to see that ~

We walked back to our hotel. Kimi had a taste of riding on a bicycle on our way back to hotel. Haha, he didn’t even want to come down. When we carried him down from the bicycle, he was crying so pitifully…. But after a while, he was ok already and ran together with them.

Very fast, another day passed so quickly! After settling down Kimi at the hotel, Hubby slept with him, and I went out with one of the Aunts to the hair salon at around 10pm. To my surprise, the salons there mostly open for 24 hours! I had a relaxing shoulder massage after washing my hair at the salon. It only costs me RMB 20!! What a great deal! Haha… I enjoy it a lot ~ Shiok!

Hong Kong Family Trip: Day 2

Today our plans are to visit the Lantau Island and to take The Peak Tram. Frankly speaking, with a toddler and grandma with us, travelling time takes a bit longer. Grandma wakes up quite early but Kimi wakes up a bit late. So both of them need to accomodate with each other timing. We ended up chose to gather at 8.30am so that I had enough time to settle Kimi before leaving the hotel. We are not in a rush of time so anytime is ok for all of us. After our ‘Dim Sum’ breakfast, we walked to ‘Tin Hau’ station to buy our Octopus Card with HKD 150.00 credit in it. Then our free and easy journey started!!

We took the train to ‘Tung Chung Station’ and then walked to the Ngong Ping 360 to buy the round trip Cable Car tickets. We chose to take the one way Standard Cabin and one way Crystal Cabin which cost HKD 153.00 per person for one adult ticket.

It was really a great experience to ride on the crystal cabin. We can even see the views everywhere from the cable car cabin. Very beautiful!

It was quite a long journey but Kimi enjoys himself a lot. He still does not know how to feel scare yet. So keep on ‘Wow-wow-wow’ throughout the whole journey. Seems to be enjoying himself.

Finally, we reached the destination!!

After walking around to admire the beautiful sceneries there, we went for a bowl of ‘Tau Fu Hua’ and then had our vegetarian lunch. The vegetarian lunch costs HKD 60.00 per person. Very big portion - 6 dishes + 1 Soup!

After our lunch and Kimi woke up from his afternoon nap, we walked back to the cable car and continued with our next destination to The Peak Tram. The Peak Tram ticket costs HKD 36.00 per person.

As I been to the Madame Tussauds before, I chose not to go in again. Moreover Grandma and Uncle also did not want to visit it so we walked around the place and admire the beautiful Hong Kong night scenery. It was quite a windy night so we did not stay long at The Peak. Moreover, the weather was a bit too cold for Kimi and Grandma.

Our Day 2 ended with a local dinner nearby our Hotel. Fruitful Day!

Hong Kong Family Trip: Day 1

We woke up as early as 5.00am to get ready. As this round we were travelling with a toddler with us, making the luggage more and the packing time also longer than usual. I think Kimi knew that he was going for a holiday. Normally he will sleep until 10.00am, but today, he woke up around 5.30am together with us! Haha, what an unusual scene…

The taxi came around 6.30am and we left the house around 6.45am. Our flight was at 9.30am, so we were in time for everything. We had our RM5 breakfast at the KLIA McD… Here, we no need to queue for long. We ordered a cup of Milo and Coffee which cost us RM8++ to entitle for the free sets.

Upon arrival, we bought the MTR tickets from Airport to Hong Kong. Travelling with Group of 4 entitles to buy for the Single Journey Ticket Set which costs HK$250 only. It is much more cheaper than you purchase the tickets individually. Child ticket costs HK$50.

Once we have arrived at the Hong Kong station, we changed our trains to take to Tin Hau station, where we supposed to meet up Grandma’s niece there. We came out from the Exit A and saw her waiting for us there. From Tin Hau station, we walked to the Empire Hotel, Causeway Bay. This hotel was recommended by the Aunt as it was conveniently located nearby the places we planned to go within walking distance and also by public transport.

After checking in and rested for a while, we walked to meet up Grandma’s cousin brother. His shop is located a few streets away from our Hotel. Not very far... This Great-Uncle is one year older than Grandma and he is still very strong! He still walk to his shop to have a look and to meet up his friends for morning tea every day too. We dropped by his shop and house for a while before heading towards the restaurant for dinner.

Grandma had nice chat with Great-Uncle. They have not met up for 40++ years. This was a great reunion for both of them! Great-Uncle has very friendly children too. They met us up in the restaurant to have dinner together.

Grandma was very happy on that night! I can say she is superbly happy… When hubby asked her on her feelings after meeting up her brother, I saw Grandma had some teary eyes. I think she was too happy to express herself on that day. It was really a comfort to us to see Grandma enjoyed herself very much. A very worthwhile trip!

We were suppose to go and see the Symphony of Lights <幻彩詠香江> before back to the hotel. A Symphony of Lights is staged every night at 8:00 p.m. But Kimi and Grandma were both quite tired after the whole day of travelling. Moreover after the dinner, it was almost 9.00pm. We missed out the time to watch the lights. So we decided to go back hotel to rest early for the first night.

Visa Application to China

January to March are very peak months for my work. Really not much time to sit down and plan for the holidays schedule. Until one of my colleagues keep on reminding me, do remember to go apply for the China visa since we are going to Shenzhen as well. So I keep on looking for travel agents for help. Perhaps this is too small money for those travel agencies to earn, I tried to call up a few but none of them willing to do it sincerely for me. Ended up, I decided to apply it by myself!!

Hubby picked me during my lunch hour and drove me to KL to apply the China visa at Chinese Visa Application Service Center. Address: 2nd Floor, Plaza OSK, Jalan Ampang. Tel: 603-2175 8888.

Normal application takes 4 days to collect. For Malaysian citizen, the Visa Fee is RM30 for single entry and RM28 for the Application Service Fee. Total is RM58.

All we need to do is to fill up the application form and attach with one passport size photo. The process is very easy. I think because a lot of people applying for China visa, so there are a lot of counters opening there . We no need to wait for very long for our turns to come… Very efficient! After we passed the passports to the officer there and off we go! Very easy procedures only ~

A runner from a travel agent charges RM30 per passport and RM10 pick-up fee. By using a little bit of our time and the car park fee of RM3, in return we saved up RM120 instead. We can pick up the visa and passport after 4 days. The officer gave us a receipt to pick them up on 15th March. Hope everything is in order :)

Do remember to use this 2 pages of forms when you apply for China visa.

Hong Kong Disneyland Reservations

After discussion with Ah Ma and Uncle who are also following us to the trip, we have decided to only stay one night in the Disneyland. We want to allocate more time for Ah Ma to spend with her relatives. So Hubby chose to book the room on the last night in Hong Kong to make the travelling more convenient for Ah Ma.

Hubby got to know about the ‘Early Bird Offer’ from the Hong Kong Disneyland website, so we booked the room 30 days prior to our check-in date to enjoy the 15% discount for the Friday night’s room.

We were served by a team of very friendly staffs via emails. They attended to our enquiries and all our requests efficiently. After a few rounds of emails, we finally confirmed our booking for the Sea View Room and also the “Stay2Day” Tickets. According to the staff there, this “Stay2Day” Tickets are more worth to buy because we can visit the Park for 2 consecutive days.

My friend has advised me to book the buffet dinner earlier to avoid any disappointments. She told me Kimi will sure enjoy the dinner as the Disney cartoon characters will walk around to your table and take picture with the guests. So I immediately emailed to the staff there to do the booking for Buffet Dinner in the Enchanted Garden. They responded to us very fast too. Within a few days, all the bookings settled!

So happy that all reservations needed for the Disneyland have finally done ~ Really hope that Kimi can enjoy himself there! Very looking forward to this day to come

Orient Special Promotion by Cathay Pacific

I have checked on MAS and Cathay Pacific websites before I finally chose to fly with Cathay Pacific after comparing the travelling date and time offered by both airlines. Cathay Pacific has Online Special fares to 8 Orient destinations! Cathay's price is RM1,080 for an adult ticket and MAS is RM1,040. I find it quite a good deal offered by Cathay, so we opted for that. By paying an extra of RM40 per person we can have more travelling time to choose from compare to MAS which only offers 2 types of travelling times per day to fly to Hong Kong.

Sales period: From now until 31 March 2011.
Travel period: From now until 31 October 2011.

After discussed with Hubby on the travelling dates, we have decided to purchase it and chose a better time to fly so that we can make full use of our holidays to the fullest!

Step One DONE! The next will be the planning of itinerary and booking for hotels ~

Month: December 2010

Last year, Hubby told me he wanted to bring Kimi and I for a short family trip after he was back from his Japan holidays. He said the next one, we must bring Kimi along! Haha, when I hear this, I am thinking… Not bad worr, I think my next holidays should be coming soon ~ Hehehe... Happy :) True enough, not long after we came back from our Singapore trip, Hubby told me, Well, let’s go Hong Kong! Kimi can go to Disneyland too...

Ok, so our planning started! We went back to Taiping to inform PIL on this trip, thinking of making it into a Family trip too. But too bad, FIL is quite tied up, so cannot join us this round. So MIL also not joining… But we managed to invite Hubby’s grandmother to join us! We were so happy when she agreed on going to this holidays with us. She is already at her 80+ years old and yet still quite fit for travelling. She says she has some relatives in HK and Shenzhen, so she wants to make use of this trip to meet them up. Since Hubby’s grandma is coming with us, so Hubby’s 2nd uncle also has decided to join us too. He said he can be of Ah Ma’s companion. To be honest, I am very thrill over this. To travel in four generations is not an easy thing to arrange but we manage to organise it. Although not many team members for this round, we are contented enough, at least Ah Ma is joining us... That is the best achievement for this trip!

Our Four Generations Holidays:
Ah Ma –> 2nd Uncle –> Hubby and I –> Kimi

After some discussions, we decided to go in March. Ah Ma is worried if we go after CNY in February, the weather might be a bit too cold for her. And if we chose to go in April, she said is the month of ‘Ching Ming’ Festival. She needs to stay at home for some prayers. And, we don’t really want the trip to drag until May when the weather turns hot ~

So Hubby gave me the task of booking air tickets and surveying on hotels… And his task is to plan for the trip and to contact his relatives in HK and China!

Weekend with Kimi at Taiping

Actually last weekend we did not plan to go back to Taiping to visit Kimi, as he was here in KL the week before. However, after discussed with Hubby, he decided to drive me back to see Kimi It was really very nice of him. He was on evening shift’s week and needed to work until 1am. But he drove me back after his work at 1am and reached Taiping at 3am++. Hubby, thanks for the effort! Although I know you also wanted to see Kimi so much, I really appreciate the effort of you wanting to drive me back to Taiping, despite your tiring shift work for the whole week…

Saturday morning, we brought Kimi to visit his paediatrician. This round we wanted to let him have the AH1N1 flu vaccine. After some discussions and advice from the paed, we decided on the jab! Kimi was very brave. He only ‘Ouch’ and cried for a few sounds when the needle went into his thigh. Not long after that, he was ok already and started to play with the paed and nurse while we were discussing some other matters with the paed… Oh ya, Kimi weighs 11.4kgs at his 1 year, 5 months and 3 weeks’ old ~

Kimi did not develop any fever symptoms on the same day after the jab. So we decided to bring him out ‘kai-kai’ lor… This is his FAV time! We went to Taiping Lake, but I think 10 minutes after we reached, the rains started to pour down a bit. So we faster ran to our car and decided to go to another venue.

We drove to Taiping Sentral, brought Kimi to the mini indoor play ground there. Kimi enjoyed himself soooo much with so many balls for him to throw! This is the first time Kimi goes to such an indoor play ground. Glad that he likes it very much! But the poor Mummy chase him until very tired lor…. Kimi has unlimited of energy during playing time!!

Last weekend, Kimi was here in KL, so his Daddy decided to bring him to Genting for a One-Day Family trip ~ Kimi enjoyed his outdoor rides a lot! He was very happy the whole day. We really enjoyed this trip very much!!

Kimi knows how to pose himself nowadays ~ He will stand there to let you take his photo and then run to you, look at the camera on his face, and then smiles himself while pointing to the camera. So cute of him!

Yesterday I went to meet one of my good gal-friends at the Empire Shopping Gallery. This was my first time there. Before this, I heard from friends that one of the restaurants there, ‘Rakuzen’, served very nice Japanese food. I didn’t plan to eat Japanese food initially, but when I reached there, my friend suggested us to eat there. I was ok with it so she went in to look for a place for two persons.

Just imagine!! It was fully seated on a weekday. We couldn’t get a place when we walked in there, so waited for a while before we got ourselves a place. So good business even on a weekday!

Since only 2 of us, we didn’t order much food, scare cannot finished them up. So we ordered a set and 2 sushi rolls only.

Top Left:
Ebiten Tobiko Roll – RM16
(This is not so delicious. I think can choose no to order in the future.)

Top Right:
Dragon Roll - RM 28
(This is very delicious and crunchy!!)

Bottom:
Chicken Teriyaki with Sushi set - RM 38
(I cannot really remember the actual name of this set and price, but I think the price range is around there. However, the chicken teriyaki is not delicious at all, but the sushi is ok.)

Overall, I personally feel that the food is a bit pricey. The price we have paid, I think we can get better quality of food. Maybe we did not order their signature dish to try. But compare to the Yuzu Japanese Restaurant I went before this, I would prefer Yuzu more a bit.

However, a nice chatting session I had with my gal-friend. That is the most important part of the dinner!! I had a great night out
