Noryangjin Fish Market @ Seoul

Our Family of Four went for a 7-days holidays to Seoul, Korea on 12-18 September.
A very HAPPY & Memorable trip with the boys! Travelling with the 2 boys is never an easy task, but I am so glad that I finally made it for 7 days with 7 hours flight journey. Tiring holidays and yet fulfilling trip!

However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I lost my photos took in Korea using my smartphone. So SAD!! I do not know how to start the story line as part of the photos were lost. So I randomly picked one to blog about it first as a start :)

Noryangjin Fish Market ...

Hubby got to know about this place from his friend. He highly recommended it to us during this trip to Seoul. I think he likes to visit fish market a lot! Hehe :) So, under his good recommendations, we went to try on it for dinner on Day 3.

A place where you pick your own seafood, then you bring your seafood to the local restaurant to cook. As much as you can imagine on a fish market... wet, crowded, noisy but yet serves very fresh seafood! You can even see some very rare sea creatures here! A very different experience when you are at Seoul.

We walked for a while, as with a baby stroller, it is not easy to stroll on a wet market. If you are worrying on the hygiene for your kids, perhaps you might not want to visit here. But Hubby insisted that I must try out their seafood, so I agreed to him to visit the fish market. And I did not regret on making the trip there!

We stopped by a stall which the lady mending the stall spoke in Mandarin to us. Well, since she speaks Mandarin, so we have decided to buy the seafood from her :)

Hubby picked some normal types of seafood: Octopus, Crab, Scallop & Prawns.
Price in total: Won 60,000

Of course, in a fish market, do not expect much on the cleanliness. But I do not regret on this trip to Noryangjin Fish Market as I most probably have eaten the freshest soft shell crab I have ever eaten as of now!! The fresh is really very juicy and sweet. Taste awesome!

We walked to upstairs and chose the restaurant with the most crowd! Indeed, it was a very long wait... !

Restaurant name: 皇帝食堂
You can speak to them in simple Mandarin to reserve your table.
Contact numbers when you are at Korea as below.
Tel: (02) 815-7070
HP: 011-788-7070

And here, everyone was seated on the floor as shown on the picture below.

The price list for cooking the seafood... They will advise you which to take depends on the numbers of people eating it. The do speak simple Mandarin. So ordering food it not difficult :)

Our drinks of the night!

Our simple and yet super delicious seafood! They were all cooked in the simplest method...

This octopus were eaten fresh without cooked. You could even see the octopus moving when it was served to us. The octopus is first thoroughly cleaned and then sliced up. You can dip it with the sesame sauce which they serve it together with this plate of octopus. Haha... A bit scary when you put it in mouth, but then it is really chewy! But after a few rounds of trying to put it into your throat, you will sort of get use to it... FRESH!

Live Octopus - Sannakji

BBQ Prawns

BBQ Scallops

Steamed Soft Shell Crabs

This soup is really nice and sweet. Highly recommended! They actually have a spicy version, which most of the tables order it, but we have kids with us, so we order a non-spicy one. But it is still very delicious! Thumbs UP ~

Fish Soup cooked with local Vegetables.

Hubby in actions with the live octopus!

Labour cost charge for the cooking + the fish soup: Won 66,000

Total spent on this seafood dinner: Won 126,000 (Around RM400)

Directions to Noryangjin Fish Market:
Take the Subway Line 1 to Noryangjin Station. It is on the dark blue line (line 1). At the station you’ll see signs that will direct you over a bridge and to the market.

But we chose to take a cab there to save the trouble to change the Subway Line with the kids. If you are in a taxi then you can tell him to send you to: “Noryangjin su-san shi-jang”.

Be there early to avoid the crowd and the long queue! Or you can go there later at night for supper. The restaurants and fish market are opened 24 hours everyday.
