The Happy 8 Retreat Cafe @ Kuala Sepetang

So happened to read one of the articles recently sharing the unique boutique hotels list in Malaysia. And so coincidently, that one of them is located at Taiping, Perak. So last two days when we were back to Taiping, I asked Hubby to bring us to explore Kuala Sepetang.

- Kuala Sepetang is a coastal town located in Perak, Malaysia. The town was formerly known as Port Weld and is a fishing village. It serves very fresh seafoods and most of the restaurants are situated on the upper floor of the shop lots overlooking the river -

The Happy 8 Retreat Cafe This boutique hotel is located at Kuala Sepetang, about 20 minutes drive from Hubby's house. We couldn’t locate the exact location by using ‘Waze', so we just tried our ways out. After a couple of wrong turns into the smaller streets at Kuala Sepetang, we finally found our way! If you are able to find yourself where AmBank is located, you just need to turn right after the AmBank. You will be able to find the hotel with a huge Eagle Head on the rooftop!

This is indeed a hidden treasure at Taiping. There is a Theme Café operates together with the hotel. I did not visit the hotel rooms, as I was busy with my two kids. My main purpose of this this trip is to visit the Café itself.

The hotel’s outside is full with the local people sun tanning the salted fish. I believe this is one of their sources of income as a fishing village besides operating seafood restaurant and to sell their catches of the day!

The Exterior and Interior of the Café -

I was served by a waitress who speaks in English language to me when we walked into the Café . I am a bit shocked upon hearing that as I am in Taiping, where most of the locals speak 'Hokkien' to me. And I replied, 'Yes, Table for FOUR'.

Our Order of the Day -

We had our breakfast before driving to Kuala Sepetang. Hence, we decided only to order some light finger food and of course, not to forget my coffee! Dang... Dang ~

The cakes they serve there are from
'FREE MORI'. If you are living at Petaling Jaya area, then FREE MORI is a bakery which you will see at most time. Of course, the price is a little bit higher compare to buy the cakes at PJ, however, it comes in a nicer design as you can see from the picture. The food price is on the higher side if you are comparing it with the food price you pay at Taiping. The main course is priced from RM18.00 to RM36.00. If you would like to order some light sandwiches or finger food, they are cheaper in price from RM10.00 onwards.

The concept of the Café is a very comfortable one. You can choose to sit indoor with air-con, or to sit at outdoor with a beautiful river's view as below.

Our total spending for this visit to the Café
- RM40.70.
