Finally... A Place Where We Call It 'HOME'

After a few busy months, we finally moved into our own 'Home-Sweet-Home'. I had been very busy to cope with work and at the same time packing, unpacking and cleaning up the new house. Finally, things have been quite settled down, except for some boxes which I not yet manage to unpack yet. Hope that once I have rested enough, I can unpack them soon :)

We officially moved in on the 23rd April 2012. We had a small ceremony at the new house. Hubby's Ah Ma also came all the way from Taiping to join us in the ceremony too. So glad to have her around :) MIL also cooked a table of delicious food to serve some of the relatives who turned up on that day. My parents also came too. What a joyful day!

We had a small house warming at home on 29th April 2012. We invited our relatives and some friends to join us in the fun. But then I was too busy till I forgot to take photos for them. Only managed to take a few photos before the party started...

Finally, I have my own 'Home-Sweet-Home' with my Lovely Family ~ SWEET!

House Renovation @ Week 6

Progress @ Week 6:

Carpentry work started on Week 6 for the Kitchen Cabinet, TV Cabinet and Wardrobe in Master Bedroom. The workers took 3 days to do it while waiting for some other materials to arrive. The carpentry work will continue on Week 7 once the table top materials for the kitchen arrives.

Hubby and I are quite satisfied with their workmanship. So far so good... The designer is very helpful too. All our requests are well taken care of. Every details are brought to discussion. Can't wait for the end results! Hope to see them in reality soon :)

House Renovation @ Week 4 & 5

Contractor part at Week 4 is considered around 90% done I supposed... Nothing major work needs to be done already except for some minor touch-ups and the installation of the glass on the altar wall and kitchen.

Progress @ Week 4:

Painting work starts at Week 5. After surveying around, we have chosen to use the service from www.mypainter.com.my. From viewing the house to get quotation from them, and then to get them to come in to do the paintings' work, it only takes us around one week to finalise everything including the colour to choose. As of now, we are very satisfied with their efficiency in getting the arrangements done. So, as what we have planned, the house paintings’ work starts at Week 5. Hope they can do a nice paint job for us! Very looking forward to the outcome after the paint ~

Progress @ Week 5:

Marching into Week 6 of renovation, we are getting very near to get our home-sweet-home ready!

House Renovation @ Week 2 & 3

We are glad the contractor and workers that we are engaging are doing their job on schedule. It has 3 weeks since they started their job. Well, so far so good! The work that they schedule for us are running on time and a few are ahead of time too.

Progress @ Week 2:

After done with the wiring works, the renovation workers started the plaster ceilings @ Week 2. We use the simpler designs for the master bedroom and living room to save some cost.

The kitchen is almost done with the tiling up work and flooring... This is my most concern area in the whole house so I must make sure everything is done properly. Luckily Hubby is giving me full authority to do what I want for the kitchen. But of course, everything must be within his budget!

Progress @ Week 3:

Yesterday we went to monitor the renovation works. They have settled the plaster ceilings and are touching up them with paints. The contractor told us, by Monday, all the plaster ceilings should be settled! Yeah…. after this, the workers can move on to another part of renovations.

The walls for the Kitchen and the 2 Toilets are done by Week 3! We have decided to tile up all the walls in the toilets and kitchen and these are how they look like before touching up ~

Yesterday the house interior designer arranged us to meet up with the man who is going to do our build-in furniture. He did his measurements and told us how the kitchen and living room cabinets will be displayed. We also met up with the Painter to discuss on the painting work and asked him to give us a quotation so that we can make a comparison on pricing.

Well, marching into the Week 4 of renovation soon... Hope we can see more results coming up very soon!

House Renovation @ Week 1

After 3 months of getting our house's keys, the renovation works finally started on last Monday. We have a hard time getting contractor for us but anyway, despite all the challenges we face, the renovation work can finally start. Phew, what a relief! Hope we can move in soon to our own 'home-sweet-home'!!

Progress @ Week 1:

We have a small back yard. This back yard is supposed to place washing machine or turns it into a wet kitchen. But after the discussions with the interior designer, we have decided to remove it and turns it into a combine kitchen (wet + dry kitchen) due to the limited space we have in the house.

My small kitchen in the progress.... It is not really the size that I can imagine of. When I go on site to view it, only I get to know, I have small kitchen. But Hubby is trying his best to make the space is 'big' enough to put in all the things which I want to be in my dream kitchen :) Well, I hope so... Let's see then!

We removed the toilet door in the children's room. We need more space to put in the furniture for the children. By removing the toilet door, we have one more wall space to make full use of it. So after this, the living room's toilet which is also linked to the children's room can only be accessible at one side. Well, this is a small toilet. Luckily is for the children to use :)

Some of the facilities we have in the condo:

As of Week 1, we are quite satisfied with the work progress from the contractor. Hope they can continue to work on time for us.

Houses Lightings Sdn. Bhd.

Hubby has been sourcing for cheaper Downlights to buy for our new house quite some time already. After a few rounds of looking around and comparing prices, designs and the quality, he finally bought the Downlights at this 'Houses Lightings Sdn. Bhd.'

Today we made a trip all the way to Puchong to buy the lights. It was really crowded in the shop. I think the customers are aware of the shop's reasonable pricing, that's why it is full of people. They have a lot of varieties, designs, etc. From the salespersons to the assistants who assist you to check your goods and carry your goods to the car are all very friendly. Very good service! But one thing is the prices there are NETT. I think perhaps because they have marked the prices to be lower than other shops, so not much bargains can be done!

Yeah... Another mission is done for our house. A very fruitful trip! Perhaps we will come back here again to choose for other types of lights in the near future.

With a baby with us today, not that easy to get more things done in a crowded shop like this :)

Shop: Houses Lightings Sdn. Bhd.
Address: No. 33 & 35, Jalan BPU 6, Bandar Puchong Utama, 47100 Puchong, Selangor.
Tel: 012-266 3790 / 03-5882 3790
Close on Monday.

Note: This shop sells cheaper ceiling fans too in case you are looking for fans ~

Furniture for the Kids Room

After a few times of scouting around at the Furniture Fairs and shops before this, and today, after one whole day of shopping around for a few places to look for the kids' furniture, Hubby and I finally decided on Kimi's room bed and wardrobe. As the room is not very big as I can imagine, so we have very limited space on the room. We need to make full use of the space and cannot add too much furniture in it.

We compare the designs, we compare the pricing and we compare the sizes that can fit into the room. This is what we have chosen after one whole day of surveying around. Both of us find this design suits us the most for now.

We did not get the whole set of this as the room couldn't fit in all. We only bought 2 single beds and one wardrobe to fit into the room. One bed for Kimi and one bed for our future baby. We are still undecided on whether to get the study table or not, will see how later when we move into the house. Hopefully the room will look nice as what is shown in the picture.

There are a lot of designs displayed in the shop. More designs are viewable at: http://www.toytree.com.my
. They have a lot cute and nice furniture designs for baby / kids rooms. The shop also sells wall decorations and educational toys too. Besides getting the kids furniture, we bought some toys for Kimi too after saw the discounts! A very worth buy!

One more thing done for our future 'home-sweet-home'! Very happy ~

Bargains from Warehouse Sales

Date: 4th June 2011

This weekend as Hubby needed to work, so we did not manage to go back Taiping to visit Kimi. Really hope can get to visit him real soon… Misses him a lot!!

After Hubby settled his work, we went out for a while to search for some new furniture for our future house. Saw some great bargains on the newspaper, and we went to survey the prices.

While we were on the road, we saw some street buntings advertisement on the Warehouse Sales for Corningware, Corelle, etc. so we decided to drop by to have a look as we need to get some cookware and plates for our new house too.

It was not very crowded and the hall was quite empty. I believed most people had came on the day before to grab the good deals. After examined the products we have chosen, we were glad that we did not need to queue long to pay money. Very happy that I managed to buy some things for our future ‘home sweet home’. I did not really know were they really a good buy, but then I phoned MIL before we bought those things, and she said the price were ok, cheaper than departmental stores. So Hubby said OK, BUY! Hope that I won’t be cheated by the warehouse sales bargains...

Deng…. Deng…. Deng… Our achievements for the day!

Each of the set costs RM399.00.
Well, is it a good bargain??!!

Very excited… Looking forward to use them in our new house very soon!! Hehe ~
