Sumiyoshi Ryokan - Located just a 1-minute walk from popular
Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama. It offers homely
Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. Our room is
fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and traditional futon bedding. We
were offered free green tea in the room and were so lucky to get a room which
overseeing the Yayoibashi Bridge and attached with a private bath and toilet.
Sumiyoshi
Ryokan has spacious public baths and a small Japanese garden. There are also
many antiques displayed at the lobby such as samurai armours and it makes you
feel so much like in a museum.
The Ryokan
owner welcomed us with very warm hospitality. The Japanese multi-course dinner,
including Hida Beef Sukiyaki Dish, is carefully prepared and we can have the
meals in our own guest room. Besides, we can choose to have either Japanese or
Western breakfast to satisfy our appetite in the morning. And of course, we
chose the Japanese set! Indeed, very satisfying and delicious! It is definitely another highlight for our Japan
trip this time!
The Mister
is really very satisfied with my choice this round ^^ He had a very satisfying
Japanese dinner set in our own room @ Takayama. Highly recommended!
Hubby and I
have different Dinner sets – With or Without Beef ~

for Breakfast in our room in the morning ~
Very warm
hospitality we received from the host ^^ Indeed a pleasant stay!
Hubby gave
this Ryokan a very positive feedback and praised me for a good choice taken! A
very good recommendation to our friends and families who want to visit Takayama
in the future.
But, I was a
little bit regret that I forgot to take a picture with the
Ryokan’s owner (an elderly man who speaks very basic English) offered to send
off us till the main door on that morning and bid us goodbye with his warm
smiles upon checked-out.
Bye Takayama
^^ You will definitely be missed, loads!
