Tokyo Day 3 (Part 2): Hotel Edoya & Akihabara

Date: 9th October 2010

After checked-out from The Prince Park Tower Hotel, we walked to the nearest train station to transfer to the next hotel. To go to Hotel Edoya, we chose to use the CHIYODA subway line. Then we get off the subway at YUSHIMA station. Use the exit No. 5. There is a map near to the exit showing directions to Hotel Edoya. It takes about 10 minutes walk to the hotel as we need to climb uphill a bit to reach the hotel.

Well, after checking-in, we went to our room. Perhaps the hotel which I stayed before this was a nice experience. So I am also expecting this hotel at least also on average standard. This is the first time I stayed in a Ryokan style of hotel, my very first impression was that, 'I think I might not be able to sleep well tonight'. Haha, this is a weird thinking I know, but I just feel it that way. The room and the small living room are ok for me, just that the bathroom is a bit too old looking :) I think it looks older than the bathroom at my Pontian's house ~ But Hubby was very satisfied with the hotel as he was very looking forward to this type of room to stay in Japan.

Other than the bathroom, the whole place is nice! Good facilities for free and easy people like us. Free internet is available in the lobby. They do also display some maps on the lobby to show us which places to visit. And it has an 'Open-Air' bathing as well. You can experience the relaxing pleasure of a traditional Japanese open-air bath at the hotel. They have separate men and women open-air bathing areas. There is also a men's sauna room. But we did not manage to try it out as we have limited time in hotel everyday. Haha! We only managed to walk in and checked on the facilities available.

This hotel serves free breakfast for their hotel guests. With this free breakfast everyday, it really helps us to save some money on food.

Our hotel is near to AKIHABARA. It is only about 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. So, we went there every night to scout for cheap bargains! AKIHABARA is a renowned consumer electronics paradise! We saw a lot of latest electronics stuffs there and they had very friendly salesmen to serve you ~ Some can even speak quite good English to serve tourists like us.

At AKIHABARA, there are also a lot of 'maid cafe'. In maid cafes, typical manga-style maids serve tea and cakes. In Japanese these are referred to as "Maido" or "Meido" cafe. We saw quite a number of pretty girls on the road gave out leaflets to attract customers to walk in. Actually there is a notice outside the cafe stating that we are not allowed to take pictures in these cafes. Even the maids out on the street promoting their cafe also will try to hide their faces from your camera. So, I didn't manage to take much photos on them as I secretly took a few only ~ Hehe, scare later she came and chased at me ^_^

It was a raining night when we went to AKIHABARA. So did not really spend much time there. The whole night was only in and out some shops tried to avoid the rain. Both of us were a bit wet and cold because of the rain. So we stopped by McD to have some hot drinks and fries before we walked back to the hotel. By the way, they do not have chili sauce ya ~

Our simple dinner at AKIHABARA ~ Hubby tried on the clear soup Ramen and I had fried Ramen. The way they cooked the fried ramen looks a bit like our 'wat tan hor' here in KL.

Expenses on Day 3 (Part 2) -
